Nathaniel Banks III., later Governor of Illinois under Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. In 1872, Jethro Tull came to America from Scotland via Chicago; he rented land near what is now Midway Park in Lisle and began building his original bandstand which still stands today within view of Interstate 88/I-94 eastbound exit 8A (exit 309). In 1893, Elisha White opened White's Drug Store located on Main Street just south of where Midway Park now stands; this store supplied drugs for local doctors until about 1975 when all drug sales were banned by state law citing safety concerns over prescription drugs being diverted to crime cartels In 1916 Edward Farmer started farming at what is now Eastridge Drive NE cornering South Ave between I-88/I-94 and State Street just north thereof - this tract would eventually be known as Farmer's Farmstead . Foxboro Farms LLC purchased Farmer's property adjacent to Foxboro Golf Course & Clubhouse complex late last year This land includes approximately 6 acres (24 hectares) bordering I-88/I-94 eastbound exit 8A & westbound exit 309

Lisle was originally founded in 1824 by Captain John Lisle, who named it for his father, the Rev. Samuel Lisle. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s, as farmers began to settle in the area. In 1849, Lisle became a village and was renamed after George Washington. In 1875, the village merged with neighboring Addison to form Lisle-Addison Township.
