There are many stories about gun lights in Lisle, Illinois. One of the most famous is the battle of Black Hawk Heights. On July 10, 1815, a force of American Indians known as the Sioux attacked a group of settlers led by Captain John Forbes at Black Hawk Heights. The Indian attack was so overwhelming that Forbes and his men were forced to retreat. In response to the attack, General James K. Polk ordered his forces to converge on Lisle from two directions. A day later, when only a few hundred men remained in Lisle, Polk ordered Artemus Ward to open fire on the Sioux from one of the town's buildings. The resulting battle resulted in three American dead and five wounded; however, it was also an important victory for Polk because it demonstrated that he had enough support to fight against the Indians. A second major event happened during World War I when guns were needed for trench warfare on both sides of the war fence between France and Germany. In order to obtain these weapons, French agents negotiated with German arms dealers in Switzerland; these dealers agreed to sell French soldiers and officers certain types of firearms which would not be available to them under Swiss law if they were confiscated by the Germans. This gave rise to what is known as "The Gun-Lisle Agreement." During World War II, Lisle became involved with Project Paperclip which aimed to bring over selected scientists from Nazi Germany into United States government research programs related to agriculture and engineering purposes. Some key figures who participated in this project include Drs Abraham Mengele and Eberhard Lorenz (1904-1958).

This policy continued until the early 1900s when control over Lisle passed into private hands and remain unchanged to this day.

Nevertheless, these early gunsights helped make shooting at long ranges much easier for many people throughout history. Some old school hunters still enjoy using ancient GUN LIGHTS when hunting big game!
In 1875, a new type of light gun was developed by John Brown and James Fenton. This gun used a single long lightbulb to emit aX-rays. The weapon was called the "Browning Automatic Rifle". It became available in 1898 and saw action in World War I. In 1919, it was replaced by the .30 caliber FN Thompson machinegun
Lisle is a town in Wayne County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,383 at the 2010 census. Lisle's name comes from the Lisle River. The first settler in what is now Lisle was David Fenton who set out from Hartford Township on October 1, 1814. In 1825, John Dyer founded the town of Indianola and named it for his friend and predecessor in that town - Daniel Dyer. Lisle became part of Cook County on February 3, 1896. On November 5, 1920, the village of Cicero merged into Lisle and remains an incorporated village to this day with its own police department and fire department. Lisle's rich history dates back to when it was simply a small hamlet located along the banks of the river which flowed through its center. According to one story, Reverend Solomon Holmes purchased land adjacent to present-day Lisle on July 10th "in order that he may build a church there." It is believed that originally there were only two homes in Lisle - one belonging to Reverend Holmes himself and one belonging to his wife Sarah (née Green). Reverend Holmes’ new home soon became known as "The Log Cabin". It stands today as a museum within walking distance of both downtown Lisle and the original post office building where mail was delivered until 1955. In 1827 David Fenton established what would become known as “Fenton’s Corners” just east of present-day Main Street in what is now north-central section of town. This area included much of present-day west side streets between First Avenue eastward and Second Avenue westward including Lakeshore Drive (now southbound US 20), which ran parallel onto First Avenue near where Haggerty Road meets Lake Michigan today! Gambling operations were very important early on in this community so prostitution must have been common during those years because several brothels can still be found throughout downtown portions of town today! In fact some believe that "The Log Cabin" actually served as both a brothel AND tavern while others believe that possessing such documentation might provide proof thereof! A nonstop gambling parlor & blacksmith shop were two other businesses mentioned by contemporaries who operated within these boundaries simultaneously!circa 1830s
Lisle, Illinois was founded in 1814 by Samuel Lisle and his family. The town was named after Lisle County, Michigan, where the Liles were born. In 1835, the first railroad was built through Lisle, and the town became an important stop on the rail network. By 1850, Lisle had a population of around 2,000 people. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln spoke at a rally in Lisle to support Confederate efforts during the American Civil War. After the war ended, many businesses in Lisle closed down due to economic recession. However, some residents persevered and began to revive the town's economy. In 1923, Lise Ziegler became mayor of Lisle. She is considered one of the most influential women in post-war America.
