The first ammunition company in Lisle was the Armoury Armory. It was founded in 1868 as a gunsmith shop and Ammunition Shop by John A. Armoury. The business was renamed Armoury Armory Company in 1875, and again in 1889 when it became the Lisle Ammunition Company. In 1907, the Lisle Ammunition Company merged with the Illinois rifle factory to form the National Firearms Association (NFA).

Lisle, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois on the banks of the Chicago River. The population was 15,722 at the 2010 census. Lisle is one of seven villages in Cook County and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Lisle was founded by Jacob Lisle in 1837 as a farming village on the north side of the river. He named it after his father, Lisle-Niles. In 1868, Lisle became an incorporated village and voted to name its first street after John Fenton, 1st Viscount Melbourne. The Village had two wards; one for men and one for women. On November 3rd, 1870, both male wards were merged into one ward and renamed to "Lisle-Mundelein." In 1916, when Cook County was created from parts of DuPage County, Lilley lost its independent status but continued to be governed by aldermen who were elected by residents instead of appointed officials like those in other counties. The village had six stores when it became part of Cook County in 1896; four grocery stores and two drugstores opened between 1926 and 1951 including a grocery store owned by J S McNamara which is still open today as Mundelein Pharmacy & Cafe. Other businesses that have been located within or adjacent to Lisle include: A&W restaurant (now closed), Harry's Barbecue (now closed), Dairy Queen (closed), Granny Smith apples production facility (closed), Ford dealership (closed) and Casa Grande Casino Resort which opened in 2007 across from downtown Lisle on portions of what once was farmland east of I-90. In 2003 there were plans to build a new shopping mall called "largest shopping center west of Chicago" but these plans fell through due to budget cuts within the county government at that time. In 2009–10 there were plans for another shopping mall called "Anchor Point". However these plans also failed because they did not follow through with promised land acquisition funds from developers until well after they had stopped building units inside the complex as planned. A new development announced in March 2014 would have been located next door to Anchor Point mall has since fallen apart due to lacklustre investment. Today much activity takes place near downtown Lisle outside the limits listed above such as agricultural practices being done near US Highway 41 which leads south into rural Kane County; pet shops operating out backof several large local retailers including Barnes & Noble; gas stations with convenience store chains like 7-Eleven dotting Interstate 90 minutes south near Downtown; private medical facilities doing business out fronton many streets NE/SW Of downtown off Highways 27 & 10 including Northwestern Memorial Hospital;; churches - St John's Lutheran Church built 1886

Lisle, Illinois is a small town located in the northwestern corner of Illinois. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. Lisle is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is home to two universities, Northwestern University and DePaul University. The town was founded on December 12, 1847 by citizens of Springfield, Illinois. It became an incorporated municipality on November 3, 1959. Lisle's history goes back to when settlers arrived in what is now Lisle in 1847. At that time it was a frontier outpost with a population of just twenty-one people. A group of men from Springfield led by Jacob Fenton purchased 640 acres (240 hectares) of land east of present day Lisle and began building homes and establishing businesses there. On December 12th, 1847 their first meeting took place to decide how to move forward with their new settlement. They chose the name "Lisle" after one of their founders--a man named Levi Boggs--suggested it for the community site on account that "the Jordan River had been passed through many times". The town started off as a trading post where goods were brought in from surrounding towns such as Ottawa and La Salle. By 1860 Lisle had become an industrial center with mills manufacturing agricultural products such as flour and cheese. In 1914 Lisle became home to its first high school when DePaul replaced nearby South Side High School which closed due to poor student performance). In 1938 the City of Chicago annexed Lisle making it part of its city limits; however this annexation did not last long because Chicago later dissolved its city limits completely within forty-eight hours following a dispute about boundaries between different municipalities within Chicago's boundaries - including those within Lisle's own city limits!
