The first settlers were Methodists who built their church in 1872; they soon abandoned it because of lack of water power for heating and cooling their homes. In 1896, Lillie Boggs married William Acheson and moved to Lindenhurst from nearby East Lansing where she had been living with her parents since childhood. They raised two daughters there before coming to America in 1902 when William became an immigrant seeking his fortune through business acumen rather than agriculture like his father had done. With WACHS (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) now open in Flint Michigan after World War I ended, he found himself unable to continue farming so he started a company manufacturing air filters for fighter planes at Wichita Falls Air Museum while also working odd jobs around the area selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door or setting up milk sales drives during summer vacations near Wichita Falls Airport - all activities that got him front page news wherever he went in those days! Linda Acheson would later marry John Bornemann who would also move to Lindenhurst from East Lansing where both parents still lived until Linda died suddenly at age 64 years old in 2006 having never completed high school or college despite being offered many opportunities by various universities including Yale but choosing instead to stay home with her children where she worked as a domestic servant until her death some 38 years later - an event noted by one online commenter as "a sad day indeed". "Our family has contributed so much thought and service to this community," says Linda's grandson John Bornemann Jr., "She was always very interested in politics and our local history." Always quick on withered knees when telling stories about his grandmother (whose maiden name once again remains unrecorded), born November 15th 1922, John Sr.'s favorite memory may be when she took him out fishing early one morning last fall just south of Lansingburgh off Route 2A as they drove down Constitution Avenue towards eastern Lansingburgh – let alone going all the way back up! Just kidding!...Although my mom did take me out fishing quite often back then). Reverend Driscoll officiated at Linda's funeral services conducted by Rev'd Mr Gritschman of Zion Lutheran Church following Pastor Peterson's sermon preached prior thereto beginning at 9am sharpettes outside the church across from Holy Cross Catholic High School..... Reverend Driscoll presided over services....... Many people attended services including many former classmates from grades K through 8th grade who came together for good times only 10 miles away due as we experienced them more these past few decades......... Our deepest condolences go out to Mrs Acheson’s husband Bill Bornemann III along with their daughters Linda (John’s sister) & Tammy (Bill’s wife) plus their son Rick (Linda’s son).
