The first gun lasers were created by Nathan Sperry and John Davenport. They developed a small, handheld device that could be used to fire a single bullet at a time. Their weapon was called the “Sperry Laser”. In 1854, James Fenton invented a different type of gun laser which he called the “Fenton Laser”. He designed this device to shoot rounds out of cannons using light energy instead of bullets or powder balls. This new firearm had many advantages over earlier firearms such as its shorter range and ease of use. By 1897, most handgun manufacturers had adopted grenade launchers as their primary form of fire support for their handguns. Grenade launchers utilizing gun lasers became more common during World War I due to their increased accuracy and ability to destroy large numbers of enemy combatants with one hit! During World War II, many Americans turned to Nazi Germany for assistance in developing anti-aircraft weaponry includinggun lasers! Lindenhurst is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2000 census. Lindenhurst is located on the east side of the Chicago metropolitan area and is part of the Northwestern Illinois Regional Office of Education. The town was founded by Nicholas Lindenstrom in 1853 as a small rural community near present-day Plainfield. The name came from a misunderstanding:Nicholas thought "ling" meant "forest" and "hurst" meant enclosure or farmstead, so he called his new settlement "Lineland". In 1857, Lindenhurst became the home of an agricultural college, which led to its growth as a bedroom community for Chicagoans working in the city. The college closed in 1969 but still occupies one building on Main Street. Lindenhurst has had two mayors: Harry J. Daley (1946-1951) and George Ryan (1987-1991). Daley was originally born in Lindenhurst and served four terms as mayor; Ryan was elected twice (1983-1991). Both men were members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners before their election to office as Mayor. In addition to its namesake school District #1 – which includes most of Lindenhurst proper – Lindenhurst also includes portions of surrounding townships: Burlington Township on the north; Maywood Township on the west; Hinsdale Township on the south; Winnetka Township on top of Lake Michigan; and Des Plaines Township on top of Ridgefield Hills Cemetery outside Chicago Proper.

Lindenhurst, Illinois is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,632 at the 2010 census. Lindenhurst is bordered by Arlington to the north and east, Terre Haute to the south and west, and Plainfield to the northwest. The first white settlers in Lindenhurst were Captain John Brown (1793-1860) and his family from Rhode Island who arrived in 1802. In 1809 Colonel George Catlett of New England purchased two hundred acres of land on which he built a log cabin. He named it "Catlett's Cabin" after himself. In 1827 John Prentice moved into this area from Winnetka with his wife and four children. They founded what would become known as Prentice's Corners store on Main Street. By 1830 they had erected a frame building that served as their home until they sold it in 1865 to Joeseph Hickey Sr., who then renamed it "Hickey's Store." In 1872 Isaac Baldwin bought and operated the store for twenty years before retiring it in 1902 to move closer to his family farmstead near South Patton Avenue and Wabash Avenue. After his death in 1924 Mrs. Baldwin continued running the business until her death two years later at age ninety-six; she was succeeded by her son Joseph Hickey Jr., who ran it until its closure in 1984 when it was purchased by Don Blankenship of Chicago, who reopened it as an antique shop called "Hickey's Store II." In 1927 local school superintendent Horace Mann organized a group of nine townships around McLean County into one educational unit: Lindenhurst Township School District No 3 (later renamed Ridgway Township School District). This district included all of Lindenhurst except for parts of Arlington Heights, Terre Haute/Plainfield, Plainfield/Wabash Valley Village (now Westmont), North Park/Patton Ave., East Park/South Patton Ave., South Bend/Watertown Rd., Bloomington Heights/Sturgeon Rd./Niles Rd./Lincoln Cir./Wells Fargo Dr./Erie Rd., Janesville Heights/Lakeview Dr./Broadwalk Way.—a total area of . At that time there were only 10 students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade; however enrollment has since exploded with over 200 students enrolling during high school graduation 2007–2008 alone! Lindenhurst was founded in 1824 by John Augustus Lindenhurst and his wife, the former Sarah Goode. The village was named for the longitude 44 degrees 8 minutes north latitude, which is located in what is now Lindenhurst Township, Cook County, Illinois. The first settler in Lindenhurst was George Henson. In 1825, Tobias Gage opened a store on the corner of High Street and Elm Avenue in Lindenhurst. Gage served as village treasurer from 1828 to 1830 and as justice of the peace from 1830 to 1835. In 1830, John Augustus Lindehurst bought land adjacent to High Street from Tobias Gage for $1,000. The first post office inLindenhurst was established on November 1st, 1829 with David Toombs as Postmaster. The village had two stores until 1840 when a new building was constructed that became the current post office building. The first school inLindenhurst was built on Centre Street between Elm Avenue and High Street in 1830-31 with Miss Auld teaching second grade until she moved to Decatur IL where she continued teaching until her death in 1860. She is buried at Elmwood Cemetery there along with other early settlers of Lindenhrust
