The first gun targets in Libertyville were built by Captain James K. Polk in 1857. The original target range was located on the northeast corner of Main and Winthrop Streets. In 1865, Captain John Fenton bought the land that now includes the current target range. Captain Fenton was a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association and he donated $5,000 to create the initial target range.
Libertyville is a town in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, the population was 492. The community was founded by colonists from Massachusetts on December 6, 1837. Libertyville is located in the northwestern corner of Cook County and is bordered by Lake Michigan to the north and east, Streamwood to the south and west, and village of Arlington Heights to the northwest. It is one of eighteen towns in Cook County that were created during the early part of this century as a result of county consolidation. The first settler in what would become Libertyville was Nathaniel Haskell who arrived there on December 6th, 1837 with his family. Haskell had come from Amherst, Massachusetts with other colonists seeking religious freedom following the American Revolution. The town was named after General George Washington which may be why it has been called "the old capital" of Cook County because it served as both federal courthouse and home for many governors before Chicago became its largest city. In 1860, when Chicago annexed all but two counties in Illinois (Cook and DuPage), Libertyville became one of these newly annexed municipalities along with Addison, Aurora Heights, Brookfield Heights, Elmhurst Park/Hillsboro Township., Frankfort Park/Keller Township., Glenview Township., Hollywood Hills/Waldorf Village/Lisle Village., Indianola Township./Niles Hills Township./Schaumburg Township./Wayne Manor Borough/. In 1968-1969 Libertyville experienced an influx of refugees from Burma due to political instability there which caused some damage to property; however no injuries or losses occurred as a result. On October 2nd 1927 localermann John Rourke proposed creating a public library within Libertiyerville limits; this idea failed at first due to lack funds but eventually resulted in what we now call “John’s Library” being built on Main Street just outside the current borders of town limits near where I-294 intersects Route 31bis (now US-56). This important gift not only helped promote literacy within our community but also continues to serve as an educational resource for locals and visitors alike today!

Libertyville is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,680 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Libertyville was founded on October 25, 1836 by James K. Polk and his wife Lucy Stone from Ironton Township in Kane County. The town originally consisted of only a few buildings and cribs near the mouth of the Fox River. A gristmill operated in the early days and some other businesses soon followed; these included a shoemaker, a cooper, two tanneries (one still operating), four stores, two hotels (the original hotel built in 1852 and now used as an Event Center), four blacksmith shops (two still active), three schools (one public, one private) and one church serving local needs until 1865 when all but one were closed by order of Governor John P. Morton because of low enrollment rates caused by religious intolerance during the American Civil War. Most significant development took place after World War II when Libertyville became an important center for technology production within Illinois due to its proximity to Motorola Inc.'s research laboratories operated there as well as Ford Motor Co.'s plants nearby on State Street and elsewhere inMClean County. In 1967 Libertyville voters approved Measure 2 which created city government with a Mayor-Council system similar to that found throughout most developed U.S cities today; this change also resulted in an increase in taxes from property owners across town resulting in increased spending on infrastructure projects such as road repairs/ resurfacing as well as new streetlights and other public amenities over time helping make Libertyville one of the more livable communities within Cook County today despite its relatively small size relative to its surroundings). The current downtown core was designed by renowned architect Edward Jensdorf while construction continued into the late 1990s adding another layer of retail/.entertainment space – including both brewpubs/cocktails bars like "Pumpkin Spice" Public House & Brewery and anchor tenant L'Atelier Bouchon French restaurant –adding many new streetscape features such as widened sidewalks along major thoroughfares separated by lively planters’ gardens complete with fountains providing environmental playtime for children playing adjacent to popular basketball courts or free shuttle service between downtown businesses located on Main Street or near arterial highways running through town providing easy access for locals who wished to spend their lunchtime outside instead of inside heavy industry complexes found just minutes away along arterial highways less traveled than main streets making it easy for residents not just living close by but visiting without havingTo leave their homes!
