In 2002, Libertyville voted to become an open-air abortion clinic without formal approval from then-Mayor Richard Moccia or any other officials; this marked the first time that such an action by any municipality had ever taken place in Cook County history (although similar actions have been pulled off before). As of 2009 there are no churches or religious organizations located within Libertyville proper; however, there are several stores and businesses that offer services to residents thereof - including a library and post office which remain open 24/7/365 thanks to volunteer staff initiatives since 1961). Libertyville is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1836 by slaves who had escaped from a plantation in neighboring Palatine Township. Libertyville became an organized village in 1857 and became a city in 1961. The city limits were expanded to include the unincorporated communities of Westchester and Midvale in 1984. The town began as an agricultural community with corn, beans, cotton, and other crops grown on large tracts of land surrounding the then-small creek that served as its water supply and transportation artery. By 1800, Libertyville had become one of the most populous areas east of the Mississippi River because it had developed into a manufacturing center for African Americans working on farms or as mechanics and laborers on local businesses such as sawmills and bakery shops. In 1836, about 200 black men from nearby Palatine Township took refuge in Libertyville after their owner died suddenly; they soon established themselves as a new community under the leadership of Elder John Crouch Sr., who would later be honored as one of America's earliest Black political leaders when he helped found Radcliffe College (later Harvard University). In 1860s many freedmen were moving westward across state lines looking for new opportunities following the American Civil War; some went to Illinois but most settled around Libertyville where they started businesses such as grocery stores, liquor stores, carriages/horsesivery workshops etc.. Many early black entrepreneurs here believed that opportunity would always come to those who worked hard - no matter what color they were. After Reconstruction ended more blacks migrated back into white neighborhoods throughout Cook County until all African Americans left Libertyville except for scattered minorities living near major airports during World War II. In 1946 Strom Thurmond won election running on a platform which called for Lincoln's assassination – this caused much heated controversy within white society over whether Thurmond actually acted upon this information or if it was just another conspiracy theory run rampant by racist politicians during that time period

In 1836, Libertyville became the first town in Illinois to be chartered as an independent republic. The town continued to grow, and in 1847 it reached its peak size with nearly 500 residents. However, during the 1850s Libertyville experienced a significant decline in population due to factors such as economic slump and the American Civil War. As a result, the town lost many of its social amenities and support systems. By 1861, however, Libertyville had fallen back into obscurity following its final decline. Today, it remains an unremarkable rural community that is not typically visited by tourists.
