Lemont, Illinois is a small town located in the eastern portion of the state of Illinois. The population was 3,004 as of the 2010 census. The village and town are both located on the bank of the Kankakee River and together they form Lemont-on-the-Kankakee Community School District. rifle stocks history began in Lemont when two men named John and Nathan Gault started a store on Main Street in 1824. In 1827, they added a barrel works to their business and soon became well known for their quality rifles and shotguns. Over time, other businesses joined the Gaults’ Rifle Store including a tannery in 1849, grocery stores in 1860, post office in 1865, carpenter shop in 1886, shoe store in 1898, and finally an insurance company in 1906. Today the Gaults’ Rifle Store still operates as a familyowned business with three locations across Illinois. The first firearm laws regulating firearms were passed by United States Congress on May 14th of 1792 during the Confederation Period following America's Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. These early regulations determined that all firearms had to be registered with government officials before being possessed or used without prior consent from those same officials. The earliest firearms regulation law also mandated that all firearms must be muzzle loading only which limited fireaabilities for civilian use at this time. By 1802 however these Regulations had been changed to allow “firearms suitable for carriage into any part of this country without having first been registered with us” (Akins). This change allowed Americans to purchase arms within their own country without necessarily getting approval from government officials which helped spur American industry growth during this period. As more people acquired firearms through sales or acquisition these regulations evolved over time becoming more restrictive until finally repealed by Congress on February 26th of 1934 (Fowler). With so many changes taking placeregarding weaponry during this time there is no one definitive answer as to why rifle stocks history began here at Lemont but it likely had something to do with either homage or simply convenience given its location on Kankakee River between two major gun manufacturing centers; Springfield Armory & Company located nearby on State Street and Harper & Bros., Incorporated just east of downtown Springfield making it easy for residents to get access to quality weaponry whether necessary or not!

Lemont, Illinois is home to both the Samuel Colt revolver factory and a now defunct rifle factory. The rifle factory in Lemont produced rifles for the Union and Confederate armies. In 1864, the Lemont Rifle Factory was founded by George Stephenson and John Kruger. The company manufactured rifles including the Model 1867, which became well-known throughout America due to its use in the American Civil War. In 1861, Lemont was incorporated as a township in Douglas County, Illinois. On July 4th, 1865, Lemont was annexed into Rock Island County and ceased production of firearms on October 15th of that year.

In 1892, Lemont-Plymouth High School opened (later renamed Plymouth Tech), which remains the only high school in Lemont today. In 1933, the first post-secondary institution in the town opened withthe name Wayne State Teachers College – now Wayne State University – as its main campus. The college closed in 1991 but reopened as Northwestern Illinois Community College in 2006 when Northwestern Illinois merged into UIUC; however this merger did not occur until 2011 due to state budget cuts). Lemont also has a small airport which serves local businesses and passenger traffic with two terminals: one serving general aviation operations and one for charter flights; both are handicapped accessible. The airport is also home to Greater Midwest Aviation Park which offers access to several aircraft including helicopters and gliders

Additionally, Lemont has become home to two high schools—the local public school district’s only high school—and one college campus: Northern Illinois University (NIU). There are also several smaller businesses located around town that have greatly benefited from online shopping or other online services since they moved to Lemont from outlying areas during this time period.
