He was so successful that he started his own company, GFCO Cleaners Inc., in 1907. In the 1920s, Mr. and Mrs. Holland took over their father’s business of JB Gun Emporium on State Street in Lemont. They operated the shop until they died in 1949. From then on, it was run by their son, John Holland Jr., who continued to run it until his death in 1984. During John Holland Jr.'s time, the shop became known as "The Gun Emporium of Lemont." John Holland Jr.'s sons continued to run it until it closed down for good in 1992-1993 due to financial difficulties; however, their legacy lives on through their son's children and grandchildren who continue to operate the business today under the name "Holland Guns." From humble beginnings as a grocery store cleaner to becoming one of Illinois' most well-known gun stores - The Gun Emporium of Lemont has always been an important part of this community!

In 1830, he moved his family to what is now Park Ridge. During the mid-19th century, many railroads were built through this areas; one was called the Illinois Central Railroad which passed through Lemont several times before being abandoned in 1925. The town started to develop after World War II when businesses replaced railroad tracks with asphalt roads that permitted more people to live close by without having to leave their homes during wartime shortages of food or other essentials. In 1959, Lemont became an incorporated municipality; it has since been renamed Park Ridge Township also in 1959 due to its proximity to Chicago while still being an unincorporated part of Cook County (the county where Chicago is located). Incorporation allowed for better services such as fire protection and zoning regulations that allowed for growth near schools and other public amenities such as hospitals and shopping centers while still allowing residents freedom to choose how they wanted their community functioning without interference from outside forces
