From 1853 to 1934, the Lake Forest Rifle Club sponsored a world-renowned annual rifle competition known as the World's Fair Rifle Championship. The event was held at the old Chicago Park Place in downtown Chicago from 1903 to 1915. At this time, rifles were only available to members of the club and it was not until 1907 that factory rifles became allowed. In 1934, World War II led to a decline in gun production and competition among countries around the world. However, when America entered into war in 1941, patriotism led some people to continue using their firearms for self-defense. This resulted in an increase in gun availability for civilians across America and Europe. The Gun Pouch industry began growing after World War II because handguns became more popular than rifles as personal defense weapons. In 1949, Winchester introduced its first handgun pouches which became very popular due to their comfort and easy storage. Many other companies followed suit with their own products over the years; such as Browning, Sig Sauer and Glock USA.

Lake Forest is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 54,514 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first known reference to Lake Forest is from 1673 when the name "Fultondale" meaning forested place was given to it by Pontiac and his friends while they were on their way to visit the great lake. In 1818, John Thornton purchased 524 acres (2 km²) of land east of Chicago and named it after himself - Thornton's Woods - which now forms most of the eastern edge of downtown. Over time, other settlers followed suit and subdivided this large tract into small parcels until it had an area of . When all those parcels were combined into one, they called it "Lake Forest". In 1835, Rev. George Washington Smith became pastor at First Methodist Church in what is today Downtown Lake Forest and started construction on a church building which would become known as the "Old First". Reverend Smith's congregation worshipped there for over 50 years before moving to their current location in East Garfield Park in 1902. The first school in town was built on State Street near Union Station in 1868 by Mrs. Cushman and Mrs. French (now part of North Side High School). After just two years with grades K-8 being taught from a sod house on State Street, Mr. Dooley opened his own school which would later be renamed Addison Elementary School after Mr Auld's Flour Mill located nearby on Addison Avenue that burned down in 1906). The village contained just five residents when it incorporated as a village in 1898; however, due to its size and growing popularity as a result of railroad development throughout Cook County – both north-south and east-west – Lake Forest quickly grew into one of the most vibrant villages anywhere within Cook County during its early days! Numerous stores including Butchers' Billiards & Saloon operated along Canal Street between Wacker Drive/ Ridgemont Avenue westward until deregulation caused them to close around 1980; however some recently reopened businesses such as Denny's continue to thrive today includingserving breakfast through lunch daily! A major growth spurt came about during World War I when many residents enlisted or served abroad then returned home; this led to increased manufacturing activity across town resulting in numerous factories opening up along Main Street including Armoury Manufacturing Company that manufactured military rifles then moved uptown until shuttered by bankruptcy back in 1925; Albion Shear Molding Company manufacturing cheese products also originated from here before moving uptown until closed too by bankruptcy circa 1951; finally Hennepin Paper Products Corporation producing toilet paper outgrew its original facility at Clark Road/Kensington Avenue whereupon they relocated uptown until closing again circa 1978! After World War II ended many farmers left Illinois for neighboring states because prices for farmland were very low following production quotas set by the Federal government; however many local farmers kept farming due to good soils and climates hereabouts making Lake Forest one of richest agricultural regions outside Chicago! This has continued even today with several thousand acres (1 km²) remaining undeveloped grasslands remnant left behind from pioneer days included right next door at Arlington Heights – homebuilt community founded by developers Harry Weisenthal & Irving Kirchhoff consisting mostly single family homes currently enjoying beautiful views towards Willis Tower business district!) . Today Lake Forest’s economy mainstay revolves largely around healthcare services with nearly half a million patients seen annually coming through our hospitals alone making us one “healthcareopolis” withinChicago!!!
