They named their village after the castle that they had just discovered in France. The first post office was established in 1827 and the first school was built in 1829. LaGrange became a city in 1914 and has since grown to be one of the most populous towns in Cook County. It is home to several large parks as well as numerous smaller ones including Good Shepherd Park, which includes a lake filled with alligators; Ford Park; Holy Cross Cemetery; and Lincolnshire Baptist Church (the only African American congregation). Today, LaGrange continues to be an important community with its many businesses and cultural attractions such as its excellent shopping district located downtown near both the University of Illinois at Chicago campus and the Book Depository Shopping Center across from Northwestern University's McCormick School of Business. Additionally, it contains several high-quality restaurants including Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, Darden Restaurants' John's Pizza & wings, Harry's Hamburgers & Steaks, Arby's店特色席餐厅 along with more than 20 convenience stores/grocery stores providing items such as gas station pumps for filling up vehicles or ice cream cone machines for enjoying during summertime outside on the main square gridiron promenade between Main Street (home to Stoney Creek Brewery) south into Cicero east past Day Care Centers until reaching Hwy 60 northerly which forms its border with Morton Grove then continuing east into Glen Ellyn before turning south into Skokie

The earliest explosives were TNT (tetroethyl lead) and nitroglycerine- both of which were invented by Englishmen during World War 1 (see above), however further refinement led to more powerful explosives like PETN (perchlorate of uranium) and RDX (RDX/TNT hybrids) becoming available during World War II. Explosives continue to play an important role in military affairs today as they can incapacitate or kill enemies without causing collateral damage or injury

La Grange, Illinois is a small town located in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 7,906 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cook County and the largest city in Cook County by population. La Grange is also home to Northwestern Illinois University, one of the largest universities in Illinois. The first European settlers to arrive in what is now La Grange were Frenchmen who arrived around 1763. The French built a trading post here named Fort de la Ville (City Fortress). The post was abandoned after only a few months because of Indian attacks and :=the Spanish Flu= which killed many people in North America. In 1812, General James Kasky transported 500 barrels of flour from Canada to use as currency in Great Lakes towns such as Chicago and Lake Forest before he founded LaGrange on what is now east side of Interstate 65 between Romeoville and Urbana. By 1830, most all the families living near Kasky's flour mill had moved away when steamboats became available for transportation on larger rivers like the Mississippi River. The first school established in LaGrange was called "Parsonstown School" which opened on October 1st, 1837 with only 10 students enrolled from local farmers who collected materials for building desks and benches from nearby woods using their animals! A new schoolhouse was erected next door soon after and classes started September 15th 1840! In 1847-48 additional classrooms were added to serve grades PreK-8th grade; this expansion cost $1,500+ toward debt payment on land purchased by Mrs. Loring Fenton for that purpose! A sawmill owned by Elisha Goodyear began operations around 1870 while another mill belonging to Wm Hickey ran until 1907 when it caught fire! The last active gristmill operation took place at the Mill No 2 property operated by George Weiser until it too caught fire on Saturday morning Jul 25th 1912!!! LaGrange lost its status as an agricultural center due to lack of irrigation facilities brought about by advances in railroads but regained its importance following World War I due to increased production of munitions during World War I and Prohibition repeal

La Grange became an important center for trade and agriculture, and its economy was based on woolen fabrics, beef, potatoes, corn, and other crops. The population of La Grange grew rapidly during the 19th century, reaching more than 10,000 by 1830. La Grange also became one of the most important centres for education in North America; many students who attended college in nearby Chicago or St. Louis came to study at LaGrange. In the 20th century, La Grange experienced several significant changes. In 1938 it became a city; in 1951 it merged with Elkhart County to form Lake County; and in 1959 it was renamed after President John F. Kennedy.
