In 1854, three brothers founded La Grange Park. They named their company after the wealthy grange they were living in at the time. The first store was located on the corner of Higgins and Harrison streets. In 1859, they moved to a new location on State Street. The business continued to grow and by 1865, there were nine stores in La Grange Park. In 1869, they opened their own bank which became one of the largest in Illinois. In 1886, they merged with another company and their name changed to J.B. Hays & Co., Incorporated. The company grew rapidly throughout the decades and by 1912 had over sixty stores across Illinois including eleven in La Grange Park! By 1920, Hays had closed all of his stores but two remained open as JB Hays Store No. 1 & 2 on State Street until it was destroyed by fire in 1951!
La Grange Park is a small town in Illinois, United States. The population was 2,838 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. LaGrange Park is located on the Fox River in southern Cook County. The community was originally named for Colonel Robert La Grange, who had donated land to be developed into a park and Residence School district. In 1885, LaGrange donated $5,000 to create the first public golf course in Illinois. The original courses were designed by architect George Goudy and built on large parcels of land donated by Colonel La Grange himself. Today there are eighteen golf courses within the boundaries of LaGranger Park including two Pro Tees courses that offer professional play to members of the public as well as private clubs for those unable or unwilling to play at least once a week. The history of baseball in La Grange Park goes back to 1887 when local citizens organized an organization called "The League" to promote baseball among their fellow residents. This group eventually became known as "The Cubs". Upon founding "The Cubs", they played their home games at Elmhurst Savings Bank Grounds which still stands today and remains one of the most popular venues for baseball in the area, hosting over 100 different events annually! The team has also been known to take on other teams from throughout Cook County during interleague contests dating back to 1895! Today's sports programs at La Grange Park include softball (Litigation), boys/girl basketball (girls only), girls track & field (3A-4A), boys track & field (3A-4A), soccer (boys/girls), badminton (boys/girls), tennis (boys/girls) and volleyball ( Girls). There are also several club teams that participate in various sports throughout school year such as Lacrosse, Soccer Club Ulysses S Grant High School ATHLETICS., Tennis Club Lady Knickerbocker HS., Golf Ladies Ulysses S Grant HS., Baseball Club White Sox

La Grange Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,569 at the 2010 census. LaGrange Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Grange" comes from a grant by PresidentGeorge Washington to Colonel John Grange in 1786. LaGrange Park is one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas within Chicago and has been called "The City of Roses". The first people to live in what is now LaGrange Park were the Potawatomi Indians who occupied the area for centuries before moving westward into other parts of Illinois. In 1812, General James K. Polk landed at Prairie du Chien and named it after his friend and mentor General Anthony Wayne, who had died earlier that year nearmobility on the Michigan side of the Mississippi River. In 1827, Captain George Stephenson founded Detroit on Lake Erie with Bluffs as his landing place on opposite shore from present day La Grange Park. Stephenson's Landing became known as Greenpoint because many early settlers lived near timberlines or along streams that ran through Greenpoint fields and woods today: these include Wickerman Road (now Old State Road 7), which runs parallel to Dearborn Avenue; East Side Highway (now State Street); and Grand Boulevard (now Cicero Avenue). Stone houses and churches began to be built throughout this period around Stephenson's Landing - some remain standing today including Stonington Methodist Church (the original building still stands) and Village Green Cemetery (). Many stone warehouses also developed in this period such as those atMain Street/Canal Street () now used as apartments or office buildings; Hulland Warehouse (); Hubbard Warehouse (); National Mutual Life Insurance Company warehouse (); Guggenheim Machine & Tool company warehouse (); Brown Brothers Harriman machine shop ()); etc., still extant today. In 1847, Congress passed an act providing for incorporation of villages within Cook County - La Grane being one such village incorporated on November 15th that same year under the name 'Greenpoint'.
