The history of gun swivels goes back to the late 1800s when Kankakee, Illinois was a small town with a population of only 5,000. . . . A local resident named Samuel Bemis invented the first gun-mounted swivel in 1892. At that time, pistols were usually worn on the hip and were difficult to aim while moving. The Bemis Gun Swivel solved this problem by allowing the user to rotate their pistol around their body in order to better aim it. This invention became known as the "Bemis Swivel." In 1905, another local resident named William Hulse developed a similar device which he called the "Hulse Swivel." This device allowed users to adjust their weapon's elevation by rotating it around their body. The Hulse Swivel was particularly useful for handguns that had adjustable sights. In 1911, Johnnie Stack developed and patented an improved version of the Hulse Swivel known as the "Stack Swivel." This invention allowed users to rotate their weapon about their entire body in order to change its elevation (in addition to adjusting its sight). This innovation became known as the "StackSwivel." In 1922, Harry Fenton created and patented a firearm accessory which he called the "Fenton Gunswiveler." The Fenton Gunswiveler allowed users to rotate their revolver about their entire body in order to change its elevation (as well as adjust its sight). This innovation became known as the "Fenton Lockable Gunswiveler." In 1934, Jerald J. Tilton developed and patented a firearm accessory which he called the "Tilton Gunswivler." The TiltonGunswivler allowed users to rotate their revolver about their entire body in order to change its elevation (in addition toadjustingits sight).This innovation became known as"The Tilton Amendment."" In 1949, Charles Epps developed and patented an innovative firearm swiving system which he called"Epps Gunswivlers.""This systemalloweduserstorotatetheirweaponabout THEIR ENTIRE BODY IN ORDER TO CHANGE ITS ENVIRONMENT- INCLUDING ITS SIGHT!" Epps' invention is still in use today!

Kankakee, Illinois is a small town located in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 10,722 at the 2010 census. The Kankakee community owes its name to the confluence of the Kankakee and Chicago Rivers. The first settlers in what is now Kankakee were farmers who arrived from Indiana in 1836. In 1848, the United States Congress passed an act authorizing the purchase of land by the government for public use in Kane County. This act created what is now Kane County and made Kankakee one of its twelve townships. The town has experienced several periods of growth and decline throughout its history. Its heyday as a agricultural center came during the Gilded Age when rich Americans bought up large tracts of land in central Illinois. However, following World War I, production at farms stopped and Kankakee struggled to maintain a single-minded focus on agriculture while other businesses failed or were closed down. After years of economic stagnation, there was a brief period of growth during World War II when factories began to open up in nearby Carbondale and Streator but this too ended with renewed economic depression after the war ended. During most of these decades, Kankakee consisted mainly of agricultural villages which functioned as subsistence farming communities providing their families with food and shelter. However, some progress has been made since 2000 when plans were announced to develop 400 acres (160 hectares) within town limits into a new industrial park that would support modern manufacturing technologies such as data processing and automotive assembly lines However, despite these positive developments there are still many challenges facing the community including unemployment rates high enough to create long-term poverty among residents; difficulty meeting infrastructure needs such as sewers and roads; limited access to education; low quality housing; poor air quality; an addiction problem among males aged 25-44 years old; crime rates high enough to make it difficult for young adults to get ahead economically
Kankakee was founded in 1836 by Captain James K. Polk and his family. The town was named after the Kankakee River, which flows through the area. The first store in Kankakee opened in 1837. The town grew rapidly and by 1840, it had a population of over 100 people. In 1845, the Kankakee Female Seminary was founded and soon became one of the most influential educational institutions in the area. In 1865, Kankakee became a city and began to grow rapidly again. By 1870, its population had reached 1,500 people. During World War II, Kankakee served as an airfield for the United States Army Air Forces during WWII. After the war, the city continued to grow and by 1970 it had become an official city with a population of over 20,000 people
