The Joliet Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. was created in 1909 by a group of men who were interested in keeping firearms available to the public. The club met at different locations throughout the city until 1912 when they moved to the old Masonic Lodge on Erie Street. In 1916, the club purchased a rifle range from Captain Edward J. Donoghue and began using it for target practice. In 1923, the club purchased a pistol range from Captain John Pritchard and began using it for target practice as well. The Joliet Rifle and Pistol Club was incorporated in 1929 and held its first meeting at the Municipal Hall. On May 5th, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated a new shooting range located on State Street in Joliet to theclubs memory with an event that included speeches by Mayor Harry Sweeny and Congressman Robert Mays.

In 1837, both Bloomington,Illinois (north) and Jacksonville, Florida (south) were established as towns within Du Page County; however, only Bloomington became an official county seat until 1954 when it was replaced by Joliet as du Page's sole county seat following a merger betweenDuPage and Kane Counties In 1847 there were concerns about railroad construction near our town so a group of citizens petitioned for incorporation as a village but this was not done because people wanted more control over their lives than what was given to them by charter granted by then Governor John Pritzker In 1871 – 72 we built our first school which still stands today inside our current high school building! That’s right – we started building our own schools back then too! We also started developing agriculture so that we could provide food for ourselves and for those living outside of town during these early years It wasn’t until 1901 when Marshall Field opened his store at 4th Street & State Road 56 that things really changed for us here in Joliet! He brought thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to town which helped start up our economy again He also donated land next door to his store where later called “Fields Park” now home to several thousand residents

Joliet, Illinois was founded by a group of American Indians in 1795. The area now known as Joliet was part of the Northwest Territory which was organized in 1787. It consisted of present-day Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The territory was ceded to the United States by Great Britain in 1803. In 1818, Joliet became a town within the newly created Chicago County. In 1836, Joliet joined Cook County as a part of the new county system of Chicago. The population of Joliet reached 100,000 by 1900 and its economy grew due to its location on the Camp Randall Canal and its role as a center for transportation and industry. By 1930, Jolient had become one of the most populous cities in Illinois with over one million residents. However, World War II caused significant damage to Joliot during the war and following hostilities it experienced significant economic decline. After 1945, however, Jolit began to experience growth again as an important manufacturing city and has since emerged as a major cultural force in Chicagoland.

The Joliet community was founded in 1835 by John Moses Connick and his family. The town was named after General James Wilkinson, who fought in the Battle of Buena Vista during the Mexican-American War. At its peak, Joliet had a population of over 10,000 people. In 1854, the railroad arrived and brought an increase in traffic; as a result, Joliet lost its status as a small town. The construction of the Chicago, Illinois Railway (CIR) made Joliet more important; it became one of the largest industries in the area. By 1900, however, Jolits population had decreased to fewer than 3,000 people. In 1916, World War I began and production at CIR slowed down; as a result, many businesses closed and residents lost their jobs. During World War II, Joliet became an active manufacturing center for munitions; however, because of wartime restrictions on trade and industry growth throughout much of America[1], few products were exported to Europe or Asia[2].
