Huntley, Illinois is a small town located in central Illinois. It was founded in 1857 by David Hunt and is home to the Huntley Rifle Scopes Museum. The museum has over 100 rifles and shotguns from throughout the years, as well as a variety of tools used in rifle shooting. The museum also has an outdoor range that can be rented for shoots.

Huntley is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Huntley was James Hulton, who arrived in 1827 and built a cabin on the east side of the village. In 1830, John Prentice settled nearby and developed a small farm that became Huntley Mills. The village proper began to form with the arrival of Amasa Fenton in 1836 and his family. They bought much of what is now Huntley from James Hulton. In 1839, Isaac Dyer established a mill on the west side of town where he operated until 1865 when it burned down. In 1840, Increase Mather founded an academy in Huntley which still operates as an elementary school today; it was one of several early schools founded within Cook County. In 1861, John Aiken erected a large frame house near center square which served as the first courthouse for Huntley; it burned down in 1902 but was rebuilt and moved to its current location two years later. Huntley had two stores by 1869: Jno Bicknell's store on State Street and Wm Clouse's store on Hubbard Avenue (now Hubbard Avenue Elementary). The first post office opened in 1870; it closed after four months due to lack of mail according to one account but reopened under new management soon afterwards with increased mail service thanks to railroad development across town which increased traffic volumes along State Street making it possible for offices situated close together to exchange mail without conflicting with each other's deliveries/openings or closures- this system remains extant as an historical anomaly today! Fenton donated land for a public school district that opened kindergarten through grade 8 students in 1895 following passage of the Local School Districts Act (20 Statutes at LXXVII), also known as Normal School Law No 2 (1895)).
