In 1984, Huntley became home to the first computer learning center in Cook County when Huntley Elementary School opened its doors to students from pre-K through high school aged children with special needs. At that time, Huntley was one of only a few towns in Cook County without any public education facilities for students with special needs. Since then, Huntley has become an important community hub for electronic technology related businesses and services as well as information technology support services for schools and government agencies across Cook County.

Huntley is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Huntley was founded in 1847 by John Hunt and his family. It is named after Wm. Hutton, an early settler. Huntley's rich agricultural history began with the purchase of $5,000 worth of land from the Kincaid family in 1853. Huntley became one of the leading corn-growing communities in America and developed a strong reputation for its fresh produce. In 1865, John A. Daugherty opened what became Daugherty’s Grain Mill which processed feed for livestock and later for humans on the old Chicago & Northwestern Railroad line between Chicago and Moline through Huntley and other villages along the route. In 1870, Augustus Grimshaw purchased some of Huntley’s visible acres on which to build his large factory complex that still stands today – now known as Huntsville Mills Ltd., one of IL’s largest textile companies (the company ceased operations in 2012). Other important businesses located here during this time include: The Federal Building (1880), Browning Arms Company (1890), Southern Illinois Telephone Company (1910) and The Armoury Shop - now known as Storefront Coffee Roasters (). After World War I ended, most production stopped at Huntsville Mills due to wartime rationing; however local farmers continued to grow crops until they were displaced by more efficient machines starting in the mid-20th century. The post-war years saw an increase in manufacturing activity as Ford Motor Company moved into town from nearby Joliet; but it also resulted in increased population density which led to difficulties finding enough open space for all those buildings – eventually lead to fires that destroyed much of downtown Huntley in 1966 and 1970 respectively In recent years there has been a resurgence around music events/festivals although many residents do not see it as positive because commuting costs are high . There has also been talk about building a new shopping center off Interstate 96 but no final decisions have yet been made
