At that time, firearms were still a relatively new technology and there were no regulations in place governing how they could be used. The company continued expanding until 1966 when it became part of United Machine Manufacturing Corporation (UMMC). UMC was shutdown in 1986 due to antitrust charges brought against it by the NRA; however, Bingham Guns & Knives reemerged as an independently owned company within UMMC shortly thereafter. Huntley, Illinois is a small town located in Macon County, Illinois. The population was 3,887 at the 2000 census. Huntley is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The first settler in Huntley Township was John Smeaton on July 1, 1827. Huntley was platted on August 12, 1847 by J.B. Melson and Wm. Fenton Jr., two of the original founders of St. Louis City limits fame who also plattered other towns within the new boundaries which later became Alexander Park and Maplewood neighborhoods respectively. The post office here was established on October 4th, 1853 with Aimee Ladd as mail carrier and its first Chief Clerk MrsHugh McCann as First- Class Mail Handler In 1863 James Haddock founded an hotel called The Crystal Palace which served as the nucleus for what would become downtown Huntley today including much of what is now Union Station including his casino/hotel complex that still stands to this day (though most recently renovated). At one time or another every major player in town had their hands in something or some kind of business here; it’s no wonder that such a vibrant community developed so quickly given its tightknit social fabric and supportive infrastructure! A Mine Strike shut down production at The Crystal Palace in 1911 but did not cause any lasting damage to downtown although some storefronts were lost resultant in restored occupancy over ensuing years just like many local businesses have done throughout history when faced with difficult competition or changing markets – something which these young entrepreneurs seem to be excelling at! In 1916 cotton ginning operations moved from Huntley to nearby Peoria IL bringing good jobs right into town while also helping fuel growth during World War I providing munitions for both America and Great Britain; things didn’t stop there though! After the war ended Huntley exploded with growth due largely to automobile ownership primarily resulting from General Motors opening a plant adjacent to Main Street here back in 1928 followed by Chrysler soon after (still one of StLouis’ largest employers) making this community one of excellence early on! Today we continue to see steady progress as our economy grows more diversified among numerous companies across numerous industries; again indicative of how strong our community has been since incorporation over 100 years ago! Today we are blessed with several excellent schools including Stroudsburg Area High School where athletes compete nationally and statewide for state championships along side smaller feeder schools like Maplewood Academy & Wilde Lake Intermediate School all located within walking distance from each other making it easy for parents to get their children involved academically while enjoying quality public education right next door! Finally we have a thriving economy full of opportunity keeping us well- poised for tomorrow yet always recognizable by our friendly locals who keep things lively despite being constantly facing challenges – they truly make up “the little old ladies” behind all this success 😀

In recent years, there has been an increase in development within the township: a shopping center opened in 2006 that replaced an earlier Sears store; a new high school was built in 2009; and a planned mixed-use redevelopment called "Townsquare" is currently under construction adjacent to Walmart Supercenter..
