Huntley, Illinois was founded in 1847 by Captain John Hunt. The town was named after Colonel James Hunt who donated the land for the settlement. In 1854, Colonel Hunt donated a piece of land to the city for a public square and in 1865, he donated another piece of land to the city for an armory. The City Hall is still standing today and is used as a municipal hall. One of the first handguns ever made in Huntley was purchased by Mayor John Wacker from Robert Grieve & Sons on October 10th, 1857. Mr. Grieve also manufactured rifles and shotguns at his factory until 1861 when he moved his business to Springfield, Missouri. The first gun sights were designed by George Stephenson in 1859 and patented on November 9th that year. They were called “Steadman” sights and were designed to help shooters find their target more easily with accurate shots fired from long distances. The patent application states that these sights could be set up quickly without having to remove any parts from the gun which would make it difficult for someone not familiar with firearms to use them correctly. This invention revolutionized handgun shooting and helped increase accuracy at long ranges making it one of the most important inventions of its time. The Huntley Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club was located on the east side of town. In 1896, the club moved to a new location on Pulaski Street. In 1898, the club changed its name to the Huntley Rifle and Pistol Club Incorporated. The club continued to meet at this location until 1906 when it relocated again to Paulding Road in Huntley. In 1912, the club changed its name once more to the Huntley Rifle and Pistol Club Incorporated again. The first meeting of the new board of directors occurred on October 4th, 1912. In 1915, another move happened within the rifle and pistol clubs when they merged into one organization with a new building located at 401 S Pulaski Street in Huntley which served as their permanent home until their current location at 701 W Pulaski Street was completed in 1978. At this time, membership totaled over 500 individuals who enjoyed using this address for their meetings and activities throughout south-central Illinois!
Huntley is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,398 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The first settlement in Huntley was made on the banks of the Pecatonica River by Andrew Hunt and others in 1838. A post office was established at Huntley in 1839, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. Huntley's first school was built in a log cabin on what is now Main Street. The first teacher was John Haggerty. In 1847, a schoolhouse replaced the cabin and became known as "The Old School House". In 1865, James Kapp erected a frame house on present-day Elm Street for use as a store and home. The local newspaper called him "the founder of Huntley." In 1892 he donated land to form what is now Elmwood Cemetery; this cemetery still includes his house from that time onward. Huntleys two churches were both founded before 1900: First Baptist Church (founded 1903) and Second Baptist Church (organized 1905). They remain active today with many members living within walking distance of either church each weekdays during services! Both churches are also involved with community events such as bake sales and car wash Sundays!

Huntley, Illinois was a small town in the central region of the United States in 1881. At that time it had a population of around 350 people and was one of twelve townships in Cook County. Huntley's history began with its founding in 1851 as a result of the combined efforts of three men: James A. Hunt, John C. Carlson and Solomon H. Weisman. The first settlers were white men who came from Kentucky and Indiana to settle on land they had acquired from the government under the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The community grew quickly because it was located near railroad tracks and markets and because there were plenty of jobs available for farmers who wanted to grow crops ormanufacturing products such as textiles or shoes. The town became known for its cheese, eggs and flour production, which led to it becoming one of the leading producers of these goods in Cook County during the early years of twentieth century. Despite its successful economy, Huntley experienced some local problems during its early years. For example, there were several accidents that caused property damage or killed people when horses or wagon drivers went too fast on the roadsides or when farmers used too much power while farming their land. However, these incidents did not typically stop residents from enjoying life within their own community until after World War II when things started to change again due to changes in social media and other technological advances
