Huntley, Illinois is a village in Macon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 569 at the 2010 census. Huntley was one of three villages that were merged into the city of Macon in 2011. The Village of Huntley began as a small hamlet on the north side of the south branch of the Chicago River. A post office was established there in 1872 and remained in operation until 1959. In 1885, John Fenton built a sawmill on the west side of town, which became the first commercial enterprise in Huntley. The mill continued operating until it closed in 1912. In 1911, George Hinton donated land to build a public school across from his home on Center Street. The first school building was completed in 1913 and served as both the village hall and primary school for all residents of Huntley until 1955 when it was replaced by a new building designed by architect Harry Weese. In 1951, Huntley annexed part of neighboring Bloomington to form a new city. On November 3, 1961, Mayor Walter Jansen announced that all three villages would merge into one municipality under his administration; this action created what is now known as "Macon City". Chinese businessman Sun Yat-sen had been planning to move his family from Shanghai to Macon after World War II but postponed their plans because he felt that an integrated China would be better off with its own government than an independent America combined with Japan and other European countries; he brought this idea to Mayor Jansen who agreed to look into it and make recommendations based on what he perceived as then-current trends within America regarding integrationism and immigration policies respectively (Jansen later said Sun's motion represented "thethinkingofaesthetically valuable people"). As such, Macon City became one large community with its own governing body made up primarily of Chinese businessespeople rather than American citizens like previous mayors had been accustomed to). This change came about despite initial protests by some local Republicans who felt they were being left behind while their more talented counterparts were moving ahead into larger cities (later evidence suggests many Republican Party members did not actually oppose merger per se but simply opposed any type or degree of government control over these smaller municipalities).

Huntley is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. Huntley has a history dating back to 1821 when it was first settled by settlers from Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The town was named for Colonel David Huntley who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as U.S. Minister to Mexico City before becoming Governor of Illinois in 1847. At the time of its incorporation into Mclean County on December 12, 1881, Huntley had a population of just over 1,000 people and consisted only of menagerie animals and three stores; all were conducted by G W Smith & Brothers hardware store proprietors J H Spicer and H F Forde. In 1902, Huntley voters approved an ordinance establishing school districts within the township including one for girls which opened in 1903 under the direction of Miss Jennie M Alexander (now Mrs John Fenton). One hundred students were initially enrolled but soon enough enrollment increased to accommodate sixth through eighth grades with an additional two classes per week being added each year until 1945 when grade school closed permanently due to World War II moratoriums. In 1944-1945 Huntley also saw its first professional football game when Marshall University played against Northern Illinois University (now NIU) from October 14-17th at Lurie Stadium with Marshall prevailing 9-3 in what became known as "the Monster Game". By 1960 there remained only one high school open in Huntley – Algonquin High School – which operated out of a building on Main Street that once housed the old post office and other civic services until it burned down in 1978. Beginning in 1984–1985 several new homes were built on land annexed by Huntley east of Bigelow Road making it possible for residents to continue using their original namesakes while providing more open space within their community where they could socialize and enjoy some degree of privacy again despite continued access to public transportation and shopping opportunities located close at hand via highways such as Interstate 55 or I-70 outside the municipal boundaries
