As companies such as Winchester Ammunition Manufacturing, Browning Arms Manufacturing and Remington Ammunition Manufacturing located in Huntley, they created a demand for new and improved ammunition products. The city's location made it an ideal place to produce munitions because of its abundant resources and access to quality materials. In 1907, Winchester Ammunition Manufacturing moved from its original site on the east side of town to what is now known as the former John A. Burns Building on Michigan Avenue. In 1912, Browning Arms Manufacturing moved from their original location on Southeastern Boulevard to what is now known as the former Holmes-Wright Furniture Company building on North Main Street. In 1914, Remington Ammunition Manufacturing relocated from their original location on Western Avenue in Elmhurst to what is now known as the former Heublein Oil Refinery building on third Street. By 1920, Huntley had become one of the most important manufacturing centers for ammunition in America due to its plentiful resources and access to quality materials. At that time, Huntley was home to many major ammunition manufacturers including Winchester Ammunition Manufacturing (now part of Benjamin Franklin Armory), Browning Arms Manufacturing (now part of Charter Arms), Remington Ammunition Mfg., Incorporated (now part of Smith & Wesson Firearms) and Heublein Oil Refinery Associates Incorporated (now owned by BAE Systems).
Huntley is a town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,636 at the 2010 census. In 1871, Huntley had a population of 131. It was renamed to Huntley in 1896 after Wm. Leland Huntleys father-in-law, who helped found the town and also served as its first postmaster. The first settler in what is now Huntley was John Fenton, who came to the area from Kentucky in 1824. He erected a log cabin on the site of what is now the Post Office on July 4th, 1825. The first store opened here on November 3rd of that year by Jno. Aiken and Wm. Hays(*). In 1827–28 (the date unknown), Captn Jesse Hill built a Log Cabin Store at what is now First Street & Main Road which became known as Hill's Stop or Old Mill Tavern during this time period for selling goods bought at local farmers markets around Cook County (*). The first post office was established here on December 15th of 1830 by James Hays with David Caldwell as clerk ($2 per week). It seems that early hunting trips were made into this area from Illinois via Minnesota because there are references to deer hunts taking place near present day Schererville (*) and Huntley (*) between November 2nd 1840 and May 5th 1841 when Captn Jesse Hill took 8 bears including one that weighed over 350 pounds(*). On October 6th 1846 an order arrived from General John Custer directing all officers destined for Fort Laramie to rendezvous with him at Camp Douglas about 10 miles east of this location being 75 miles long(*). At some point before October 1861 Huntley had become known as "Huntleys" due to Wm. Leland Hughes* purchasing 640 acres hereabouts – land patented February 12th 1862 (*) covering much of modern Hartland Township† [*], part of which still forms parts of Southern McHenry County today‡††

Huntley is a small town in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community was founded by John Hunt in 1871. In 1907, Huntley became one of the first towns to be incorporated in Kane County after Illinois became a state. Today, Huntley is an agricultural and commercial center with a diverse economy which features heavy reliance on agriculture and ranching operations as well as manufacturing and service industries. The history of Huntley begins with John Hunt who settled in the area in 1871. A post office was established at Huntley on March 26, 1870, and remained open until it was discontinued on May 6, 1927. At that time, it served as the only postal address for Kane County. As early as 1872, Huntley had two churches; First Methodist Church (later known as Stanger United Methodist Church) and Second Baptist Church (now known as Evangelical Baptist Church). In 1881, Mr. James Fenton donated land to establish what would become Huntleys first school; named Park Schoolland School District No 2 after James Fenton's donation which helped fund this institution's construction beginning that year. In 1907, when Kane County was created from parts of Cook County headed by George Norris Prentice*, Huntleys incorporation into the new county occurred following approval by the General Assembly.* Today’s Huntsville Business Park is bounded by I-95 to the south; State Route 128 to the east; Indian Prairie Road to the north* *The village has since been annexed by neighboring Glen Ellyn*. By 1940 there were just three businesses remaining within Huntsville Business Park: Ralston Paper Company (now KFC), Hagerty Tire & Rubber Company (now Goodyear Tire & Rubber), and American Telephone & Telegraph Company (AT&T). Of these three companies only American Telephone & Telegraph remains today while KFC closed its doors All other businesses have either moved away or are no longer extant due to consolidation over time or natural attrition.* As late as 1942 there were still five businesses operating within Huntsville Business Park: Hagerty Tire & Rubber Company(now Goodyear Tire & Rubber), American Telephone & Telegraph Company(AT&T), Ralston Paper Company(now KFC), Allied Signal Corporation(formerly Westinghouse Electric Corporation), and National Cash Register Corporation.(NCR)* *In 1940 all but four companies had closed down within Huntsville Business Park including American Telephone & TelegraphCompany(* now AT&T) which vacated their building following World War II* [*Alliance Signals also abandoned their building in 1940] . However through various mergers throughout the years many of these original companies have reemerged along with many others that relocated to other areas during this period such as Goodyear Tire & Rubber company moving from their original location next door to American Telecommunicationscompany before being merged into them later that decade then relocating back again into Huntersville business park before eventually becomingGoodyear Tiresand rubber company* *. This growth has led some locals to refer To themselves derogatorily “the old timers” because they attribute most if not all of their current industry activity directly or indirectly to those who originally started things here back when things were more simple.* One prime example of this recent resurgence can be seen with Goodyear Tire Andruble Co., Inc., located adjacent to Huntersville Business Park off Interstate 95 for over forty years now continuing its long legacy of providing quality tires for both personal vehicles AND commercial use!
