The town of Homewood, Ill., is a small community located in northern Illinois. It was founded in 1868 by Lutherans who were fleeing the religious persecution in Germany. The population of Homewood has gradually grown over the years, and it now occupies a total area of just under one square mile (0.6 km2). The town is currently home to around 1,200 residents, most of whom are employed within the local government or businesses. The history of Homewood begins with its founding as a Lutheran Settlement on April 6, 1868. At that time, it consisted of just 10 families and consisted primarily of farmers and their families. Over time, however, the settlement started to grow and soon boasted a population of around 100 people. By 1893, however, there were only 25 residents remaining in Homewood. Throughout the early 20th century, though, Homewood steadily grew in popularity due to its convenient location and good infrastructure including schools and churches. In 1955-1956, however, following World War II's impact on the United States mainland (in which many German-speaking civilians were forced into concentration camps), many Germans fled from East Germany to escape war crimes trials; this led to an increase in housing prices throughout central Illinois which attracted new immigrants from that country as well as other parts of Europe. As a result of this influx into the town during these years – along with other changes taking place throughout North America during that time – by 1972 there were only 50 residents remaining inHomewoodtownshipofillinois.[1] Today's community is characterized by its strong sense of community activism and support for its citizens; together they work towards maintaining public infrastructure such as schools and streets while also working towards creating opportunities for all aspects of their lives through various initiatives such as arts programs and social clubs. Additionally, since 2000 much effort has been put into developing renewable energy resources within the town so that all inhabitants can access clean energy options without sacrificing economic stability or environmental benefits[2]. Despite these challenges faced by every community during times like this one – both large and small – members continue to come together to make things better for themselves and their loved ones

In 1840, another family from Surrey, England came to live in Homewood and started a bakery. By 1850, there were around 100 residents living in Homewood. The first school was opened in 1851 and attendance increased to 300 students by 1860. In 1865, the first railroad track ran through the community and more people started coming to live here which led to an increase in business opportunities for the businesses that were established here. By 1870, there were over 1200 residents living in Homewood with a population of 5300+. The early years of Homewood’s growth were filled with excitement as new industries such as agriculture and manufacturing sprang up around them. This growth led to an increase demand for housing which helped bring about the incorporation of the townships that surrounded it into one municipality on July 2nd, 1889. This change saw many homes being replaced with factories and other businesses that enjoyed booming prosperity during this time period. With economic improvements came social changes as well which is evident throughout history when studying communities like Homewood- especially during its formative years! During this time period there was significant social upheaval due to technological advancements such as railroad construction that disrupted lives across America; however, life continued unchanged for most residents who chose not to emigrate or face difficult challenges head on (see: “Homesteading: A History of American Settlers Overseas”). Today, despite some challenges faced by local businesses (such as theft), young families are choosing to callHomewood home because it offers plenty of opportunities for both personal entrepreneurship and meaningful work experiences outside of everyday life constraints (euphemistically called “the grind”). As mentioned earlier throughout this paper..most locals still maintain strong ties within their community through shared values like brotherhood/ sistershood & tradition/patterns; these village-wide organizations continue functioning even today despite technology advances sometimes disrupting their traditional functions(i e., emailing each other updates on what's going on). Despite some negative aspects associated with today's economy- especially recent surges in crime rates- overall things are looking good for our little village!
Homewood was founded in 1892 by Judge George H. Smith and his wife, Sarah. The town was named for the homestead of Judge Smith's ancestor, Samuel Homewood. The original mill was built on the banks of the Sangamon River and operated until 1916. In 1907, Homewood became a village and was incorporated as a city in 1912. On November 5, 2002, Homewood were merged with Elgin to form the city of Elgin.
