Homer Glen is located in the north-central suburbs of Chicago. The Village of Homer Glen was incorporated on April 14, 1925. At its peak, it had a population of 12,000 people and was home to many businesses including a grocery store and breweries. The village's decline began in the late 1970s when suburban development encroached on its boundaries. Today, only a few homes remain in the original Village while most of the buildings from its heyday have been replaced by more recent structures or demolished. On July 1st 1907, Homer Glen became one of seven townships within Cook County which were consolidated with other villages withinCook County under the name "Homer Glen Township". On December 15th 1927, all but two of the remaining residents within Homer Glen Township voted to secede from Cook County and establish their own government known as "The Borough" which included all but three homes in what is now Homer Glen. On February 2nd 1932 – after three years of voting – The Borough elected its first mayor who served until his death on October 20th 1933 due to an illness that year; then it elected six trustees who served for five years each before being replaced by an election system where single members held office for life instead; then it electeds a township administrator who serves for four years before retiring effective January 1st 1944; finally it elects a new mayor and trustees every four years through elections held on November 3rd regardless of whether any member has died since predecessor's terms expired As part of Mayor Daley's plan to bring inner city jobs back into town during his time as Mayor (and continuing until he was succeeded by Richard Maki), much work took place inside City Hall between 1965-1978 that created several streets such as Nelson Mandela Boulevard (named after then Mayor Daley) and Stevenson Avenue which connected downtown with various neighborhoods around town - thus helping resurrect much-needed retail activity along these corridors once again
