Homer Glen is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,827 at the 2010 census. Homer Glen is located on the west side of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Homer" comes from John Homer, who settled there in 1847. In 1857, General James Shields built a home there and named it after him. By 1870, the community had grown to include 104 homes and 2 churches. In 1907, Homer Glen became part of the city of Wheaton; however, it retained its own government and school system until 1949 when it merged with Wheaton North to form Wheaton-Homer Glen School District No. 1. A new Elementary School was opened in 1961 and renamed after Mrs. Jane Addams; an addition to the High School followed in 1972). In 1985, Elmwood Village (a housing development adjacent to Homer Glenn) was incorporated into Homer Glen as well - this made room for more people within the town limits while still allowing growth outside of them (or so they thought). In 2002-2003 TheGlen Foundation funded a feasibility study that recommended annexed Elmwood Village be formed into a separate municipality with its own school district – this proposal was never ratified by the village's board of trustees but did not stop subsequent annexation efforts by residents As of 2010 there are only two buildings left standing from when all of Highland Park subdivision were razed: One is an old abandoned millbuilding that has been converted into apartments known as "The Mill". The other building which used to house numerous businesses now houses a grocery store called "Grocery Outlet". There are also plans for several other buildings including a movie theater and another grocery store inside what used once been Highland Park's football stadium; these plans have yet to come about However annexation efforts continue apace although no official annexation announcement has been made since 2011 .

Homer Glen is located on the east side of Chicago, bordered by the city to the north and west and Schaumburg Township to the south. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The name "Homer Glen" comes from two places: one was a hamlet on State Road 41 just east of present-day Homer Park (now part of Hinsdale), while another was near present-day Orchard Park on land that once belonged to John C. Goodrich. The first place gained its nickname from being home to some pioneer farmers who had settled there in 1836; these people called their hamlet "Homer." According to one account, when Abraham Lincoln's great-grandfather moved from Kentucky to Illinois in 1847 and began farming in what is now Homer Glen, he named his new farmland for Mr. Lincoln because he thought it would be easy for other farmers around here to find out about him if they ever needed help finding something specific. In fact, Mr. Lincoln only owned about 1/3 of all of today's homes in Homer Glen – most were built subsequent years as subdivisions or rentals – but his name still hangs heavy over many aspects of this working-class community since so many residents either grew up or have lived here their entire lives knowing him by name or reputation alone! Andretto Pappalardo opened his pizza restaurant – originally known as Papa John's Pizza – at 191 S Rockwell Ave., across from North Central High School in 1984 after moving from Italy with his family following the fall of Mussolini’s fascism government there six years earlier. That location served as home base until 1996 when Pappalardo converted an old automotive body shop into what became known as Pappy's Place; he also operated a convenience store (the massive "Pappy's Paradise" located at 6th & Ashland) adjacent thereto until 2003 when he closed it down due to numerous health code violations combined with financial troubles brought on by a recession that year alone! Today, you can find almost anything you could possibly want or need within walking distance Of central business district including supermarkets like Kroger and Walmart which are minutes away along with restaurants like Olive Garden and Joe's Chris Steakhouse although somechains such as Panda Express have closed recently leaving little variety remaining within close vicinity like Town Hall Square which has been consistently homebased law office via same door since 1893 even though building permit expired several times during prohibition era
The first settlers in Homer Glen, Illinois were the Holland family. The Holland family moved to the area in 1853 and started a mill. The mill was built on the site of what is now the Homer Glen shopping center. In 1871, the town of Homer Glen was organized and named after John F. Homer, an early settler.
