In 1955, Holy Cross merged with another parish to form Christ Our King Roman Catholic Parish which still operates today as an all-volunteer parish with 118 familiesserving over 1,200 residents and more than 150 priests working together providing spiritual care to their citizens! A post office called "Homer" was established in 1927 but closed operations in 1951 after just five months due to increased mail volume from Joliet Township! On July 15th, 1957ils Community Center opened when new facilities were built south of I-90 at what would later be known as West Side Avenue! This facility became home to many local businesses including banks and restaurants until it burned down in 2000!
