In 2003, Mayor Rick Majerus announced that Hinsdale would be annexing part of Urbana for city status which would make it one of Illinois' 23 cities with annexation authority. Hinsdale has been home to many famous people including Richard Munch and Harry S Truman. Truman was born in nearby Urbana and attended school here before going on to serve as President of United States from 1945-1953.
