In Highland Park, Ill., the optical industry has been around for over 100 years. The Optical Industry in Highland Park history began with two companies: The American Optometric Society (AOS) and the Chicago Optometric Association (COA). AOS was founded in 1892 by Dr. John Wessels, an optometrist from New York City. The first store opened in what is now the alley behind Stuyvesant High School. In 1898, AOS merged with the Chicago Optometric Association to form the IllinoisOptical Company Ltd. This company manufactured a wide variety of optical products such as spectacles, contact lenses, cornea transplants and more. During World War II, IllinoisOpticalCompany assisted in producing military lens materials for America's war effort. After the war ended, IllinoisOpticalCo produced various types of photographic equipment including monochrome cameras and Instamatic film processors sold under the name " Pixotron." In 1965, IllinoisOpticalCompany partnered with Raytheon Corporation to produce high-resolution television sets using advanced scanning technology called PAL or progressive scan. At this time, much of the world was using SECAM or standard 16mm film movies which had encoded data on every frame for display on television sets across different countries around the world. With this new technology came a whole new market for optical products - televisions! During this time period we also experienced some significant technological advances such as fiber optic cables being installed throughout our city which allowed us to finally see all sides of buildings without obstruction! The first optical equipment store in Highland Park was the United States Optical Company, located at 715 W. State Street in Highland Park from 1907 to 1912. In 1929, The United States Optical Company moved to 901 N. Lincoln Ave., and continued to sell optical equipment until it closed its doors in 1984. In 1937, optical retailer The Acme Co. opened on the corner of 9th and State Streets in Highland Park. This store is now known as The Barnes & Noble Center, which specializes in books and music. In 1949, David Siegel opened a hardware store on the corner of 12th and State Streets in Highland Park that became one of the most well-known optic stores in the area. In 1957, The American Optics Corporation was established with a location at 810 Einth Avenue in Urbana Heights. This company continued to operate until it closed its doors in 1990.
Highland Park, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 38,969 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first settler in Highland Park was Michael Haggerty who purchased land from the village of Maywood in 1853. By 1870, Highland Park had a post office and two churches. In 1881, the city of Chicago annexed the towns of Maywood and West Pullman to form a new city called "Chicago". However, Highland Park continued to exist as an unincorporated community until 1889 when it became one of three communities within the new limits of Chicago's South Side neighborhood. In 1901, William McKinley was elected President and by 1907 both Maywood and West Pullman were also annexationd into the City of Chicago with Highland Park remaining an unincorporated community unchanged. In 1912, Mayor John Fenton commissioned architect Charles Waugh to design a park in honor of his predecessor Mayor John Puskarich which would later become Grant Park in downtown Chicago. The original idea for Grant Park was to create an open space on the north side of Michigan Avenue that would be used by people from all over Chicago for picnics, concerts and other public events. However due to funding problems associated with World War I and necking money with other municipalities within Cook County including Lakeview Heights (now Lincolnshire), Haggerty decided to sell his land rather than donate it back to the village as originally proposed due he felt that what he had received wasn't fair market value given how valuable his land actually was compared to others around him - especially after watching neighboring villages such as Maywood improve their infrastructure while he languished without any help from his municipality brethren at all! From then on out until 1989 when HighlandPark finally got its own post office (it still does today) there have been no major changes or updates taking place within this small community whatsoever... except for some occasional re-enactments or street Fairs which always manage to bring some much needed excitement and fun into these otherwise quite lackluster weeks!

Highland Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The population was 26,711 as of the 2010 census. The town was named for Highland Heights in Scotland, which had been home to Scottish settlers since the 17th century. The Scots name "Herald House" is still used today and refers to what is now the Highland Park Mall. The first post office in Highland Park was established on December 15, 1871. In the late 1800s, Highland Park became known as one of the most affluent towns in Cook County because its residents were able to own large tracts of land and generate significant income from their holdings. In 1902, after a referendum by residents, Highland Park merged with nearby Arlington Heights and formed what would become Highland Park Township. In 1925, when Cook County made changes that allowed for township-level elections instead of individual voting blocs for county officials (except for sheriff), Highland Park Township decided to secede from Cook County and form its own government under a new system called “streamlined townshipgovernment” which offered more civil rights than under prior systems including individual voting blocs and less constraint on township finances by county government。 In 1978, when Northern Illinois University opened up an academic campus near Aurora Avenue in downtown Chicago – just east of where then-Highland Park Boulevard intersected North Michigan Drive – this area became known as “northside village” due to its proximity to NIU’s campus along north side arterials such as Lake Shore Drive and State Street/Lake Michigan Boulevard). And so it remained until developer Harry Bendix bought much of Aurora Ave., making northside village an incorporated municipality within city limits on October 1st 1988 through deed purchase from UI graduate students John Saucier (later mayor) and Lawrence Weisman (a partner at Wasserstein & Katz law firm). From 1988 until his death on January 5th 2002*, Mayor Saucier led efforts to revive old businesses located along south side streets bordering UI’s north side Campus such as Heublein Packing Company across State Street from Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company building; also revived two abandoned grocery stores at 95th Street corner Ravenswood Road east of Interstate Highway 90 – Heublein's former store moved into new location next door soon afterwards * Harry Bendix died leaving behind various estate items including about $100 million dollars invested in real estate * On January 5th 2002* following his death* Mayor Saucier's successor Richard Moseley renamed street grids around city Limits "Harry Bendix Way", "Richard Moseley Way" & "John Saucier Way".

In 1851, the first school was constructed in Highland Park. The population of Highland Park grew rapidly during the early 20th century. By 1920, Highland Park had a population of over 25,000 people. During World War II, many businesses and homes were destroyed by fire or bombing at nearby Chicago sites. The community started to rebound after the war and growth continued until the early 1970s when a large number of residents moved out due to crime rates and economic stagnation in Highland Park. After years of decline, Highland Park's population increased again in 2018 to over 30,000 people once again
