Cullerton with 1/3 of its voting power given to each ward regardless of population size while still retaining its individuality as a Township Municipality under the jurisdiction of the City Councils within Cook County

Highland Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 34,711 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is the second-largest city in Cook County after Chicago. It is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Illinois. The first settlers to what is now Highland Park were some of the bravest and most professional men who ever set foot on this continent. In 1871, John Prentice settled here and began operations as a druggist and grocery store owner. In 1892, when Jesse Dayton founded Dayton's Grain Exchange downtown and started dealing in flour, Feeding America moved into its current building on State Street near Comerica Park five years later. The feed business grew into one of Highland Park's major industries during the early 20th century; however it closed its doors following World War II when rationing made flour more expensive than ever before. Today there are several small businesses that still operate out of various buildings along State Street that date back to those days: Pioneer Paper Co., Doyle's Grocery Sales Inc., First National Bank & Trust Company (the predecessor to today's Wells Fargo), Jardine Bros., Jr.'s ice cream parlor/confectionery store (which still operates), as well as numerous other businesses dating back to prewar days such as Hoehn & Bickman Hardware Store, Mrs. Wesselson’s Clothing Store (formerly known as Mrs.) John Alder’s Drugstore and Mrs. Sperling’s Furniture Store (both defunct since 2000). Businesses like these show just how important retail trade had become by 1920 when Highland Park boasted over 100 stores statewide! In addition to its large number of businesses – many which remain active today – Highland Park also boasted an impressive collection of architecture from throughout its history: six churches/temples built between 1915 and 1925; three baseball diamonds built in 1922-1925; two ranches operated byutholders William "Buffalo Bill" Cody and Fenton Dixon…and even an old movie theater that has been restored!
