A post office was established in 1838, and by 1860 Highland Park had a population of 350 residents. In 1871, it became part of Chicago when that city was founded. In 1905, Highland Park was incorporated as a village. It re-incorporated as a town on April 14, 1914. The original name for Highland Park may have been chosen because it began with "high" (hill) rather than "park" like other villages in Cook County at that time (e.g., Riverdale). In 1922, construction started on what would become one of Chicago's most famous landmarks: Soldier Field which replaced an earlier stadium which had been destroyed by fire three years earlier. The new stadium hosted many prominent events over its life including the 1924 Olympics which were won by America; World War II; and NBA Finals games betweenChicago Bulls and Boston Celtics both played there in 1966 and 1990 respectively In 1960s/70s there wasn't much development but then again starting from 2000s things are happening there such as Lyric Opera House opened up there also basketball court built for park opening went open up

As interest in handguns grew throughout American culture once again (due largely to Second Amendment rights), manufacturers responded with creations like autoloaders which allowed customers to purchase additional rounds without having to remove any bullets from their shotgun shells before shooting; this type of firearm is now commonly called an "assault rifle." Many people today still refer to anything larger than a .22 caliber pistol as a "bb gun", even though this definition has since been broadened to include all revolvers larger than 9mm Luger/.357 Magnum (.44 Magnum).

In 1916, Scots-Irish American pioneers founded the Highland Park Presbyterian Church which remains active today with over 1,000 members. In 1930, Italian Americans arrived and formed their own congregation called Nuova Casa (New House). They still worship there today. In 1951, African Americans moved to Highland Park from Englewood and West Side neighborhoods near downtown Chicago after being denied housing there by white citizens based on their race. They founded their own church – First National Baptist Church of Highland Park – which continues operation today as one of Chicagos' most prominent black churches with an attendance rate of more than 3 million people per year! Italian American families also established businesses in the city such as Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company (now known as Amtrak) and Bendix Aircraft Corporation (now Boeing), filling many jobs vacated by departing Japanese Americans during World War II when they relocated to internment camps along the US-Mexico border near Tecateán Colorado Springs Mexico
