Hickory Hills is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,098 at the 2010 census. Hickory Hills is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The community is located on the border of Cook and DuPage counties and is centered on the city of Chicago. The name "Hickory" comes from an oak tree that grows in the area. There are also several hickories found throughout Cook County including one in northwest suburban Mount Prospect which was once used as a pulp mill site. The first settler to live in what would become Hickory Hills was James Buchanan Wakefield who arrived in 1847. He founded what became known as "Wakefield's Mills" west of downtown Chicago near 71st Street and Western Avenue. In 1852, David Brown built his home on land that he purchased from John Smeaton for $2,000 cash. Brown manufactured finished goods such as saddles, harnesses, clocks and other items until 1865 when he moved his business to Elmhurst, Illinois where it continued until his death in 1902. In 1889, prominent attorney George Weidenfeld bought 3 acres (1 km²) east of downtownChicago for $5 per acre ($ 100 per hectare). Weidenfeld named this parcel Hickory Grove after one of his family trees - Acer rubrum (hickORY oak). Weidenfeld used this property to grow corn for feed and cattle beforePassing away in 1916 without leaving any offspring behind to continue this tradition; however some believe that he may have left behind descendants who still own or operate these properties today! In 1924 Elbert Hubbard bought 8 acres (3 km²) north-east of downtownChicago from Gouverneur Klayman for $800 (). Hubbard renamed this property "Hickory Hill". With over 50 years experience as a nurseryman and garden center owner/operator it can be said that Hickory Hill has been home to more than just a single business venture! Today there are numerous restaurants and stores dotting its borders with many people enjoying its namesake fruit while residing here year-round!

Hickory Hills is a small city located in the southwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 30,099 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Hickory Hills is one of two cities in Cook County with a population over 100,000 (the other being Westchester Village). The village was organized on April 15, 1855 by John Denton and others as a result of the Donation Land Act of 1824. James Kieft donated 1,376 acres (4 km²) to form Hickory Hills Township. On July 4, 1858, construction began on what would become H Hickory High School. In 1865-1866, The Chicago & Northwestern Railroad completed its line from mowing hay to tracks through town and opened up new markets for goods and services for farmers in the town center. In 1897-98 when land salesmen came to town looking for farmers who had land drained but not plowed because they were afraid their crops would rot if plowed down during winter rains due to lack of runoff capability on their properties ceded by previous owners or sold at public auctions that summer night instead), they found only 10 residents living thereabouts; no businesses existed yet other than a few blacksmiths who did repairs on wagons brought into town from miles away for repair or use as parts for newly built cars or motorcycles coming into commercial service near North Avenue and State Street between White Settlement and Western Addition – until then all transportation within Cook County had been by horse cart or pony back! On October 6th 1898 William Craine purchased 6 acres (2 ha) north east of present day First Baptist Churchyard from Ebenezer Morse which formed part of what would become H Hickory Lane today’s east side street running parallel to First Baptist Road while also remaining another name given property along this stretch between Second Baptist Churchyard just southwest of where it crosses Third Street now used as an alleyway connecting First Baptist Cemetery with Masonic Temple across Third Street before turning northeast again joining Present Day Elmwood Avenue about two blocks south east - this portion forming part now called Old Hickory Hill Drive following right hand traffic alignment routingwest/southwest out of downtown past current day Elmwood Cemetery then northwest following original alignment southeast outvesseling Northwest Lot purchased January 2nd 1906 from Mrs Anna Muhlenberg situated just Southwest corner lot adjoining East Side Of Parketts first settled November 3rd 1800 block bounded easterly by present day Arlington Heights boundary line thence northerlyfollowing old road alignment routing WNW/ESE back along original route traveled until reaching Parketts limits NE
