Harvey was a small town in Addison County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,060 at the 2000 census. In 1868, James W. Harvey opened a store in what is now Harvey. For many years there were no water services available to Harvey residents so they had to take water delivered from Chicago through Wellsville or pay for private supplies. The area was named for General Isaac Harvey, who fought for the U.S. during the Revolutionary War. The town of Harvey was founded in 1836 by settlers from Indiana.
