In 1892, the first firearms demonstration in Hanover Park took place. A group of men from Illinois organized by Garand Firearms Company exhibited their rifles and pistols at a public meeting. The event was attended by prominent citizens of the city, including Mayor John D. Rockefeller and Congressman Julius Rosenwald. The display of firearms was a success, andGarand Firearms Company decided to establish a store in the park for sale of NRA-made firearms and ammunition. The NRA also released its first gun advertisement in Hanover Park in 1893. At that time, the organization only had two stores: one located in Chicago and another located in Milwaukee. In 1896, NRA president James Fenton traveled to Hanover Park to open up an additional store on State Street opposite the Chicago Public Library. This new location became known as “NRA Hall” and served as the home base for all NRA activities throughout Illinois until it was destroyed by fire in 1998. In 1916, state Senator George Norris visited Hanover Park with his daughter Mabel to observe a rifle match between rifle clubs from both Illinois and Wisconsin being held at the park’s rifle range. Norris impressed enough people with his speech about arms policy that he was elected Ulysses S Grant’s Vice President on election night without having run for office before (he would have become President if he had). He never fulfilled his promise to visitHanover Park again but remains one of history’s most famous visitors to this area – even though he did not own any guns himself! Today, there are still a number of gun shows taking place at HanOVER PARK every year where visitors can see various types of firearms demos as well as buy reloading supplies or just enjoy some good old fashioned target shooting fun!

Hanover Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,817 at the 2010 census. It lies within the Chicago metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1836 by John Hanover and his wife Sarah Winchester. The name derived from the village of Haverfordwest in Scotland where John's great-grandfather had settled after moving from England. The first post office was established in Hanover Park on October 6, 1836. One of the most famous residents of Hanover Park was Abraham Lincoln who lived there during his boyhood years and also attended school here until he graduated from high school in 1846. After being drafted into the Union army as aPrivate First Class in 1861, Lincoln became an American Civil War General and led troops to victory at Gettysburg while living in Hanover Park.

Hanover Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1837 by German merchants and farmers from Hanover, Germany. The name was chosen to reflect the then-new city of Chicago. Hanover Park is located on the east side of Cook County, between Cicero and Englewood on the south side of I-90. It borders the towns of Westmont to the northwest, Northbrook to the northeast, and Vernon Hills to the southeast. The Village had a population of 1,882 as of 2000 according to Census data which made it one of South Side's largest villages. Hanover Park has been losing residents throughout recent years due to migration outpaced births within town limits; however it retains its ranking as one of South Side's most affluent communities with median housing values topping $225 thousand. As early as 1837 there were Germans living in what is now Hanover Park when Chicago was only a small farming community consisting mostly Irish immigrants who harvested maize for their local marketplaces in nearby Des Plaines and Aurora. When Chicago became an urban center in 1847 with more people living near Lake Michigan rather than along waterways like those around hereabouts (and since these areas were subject frequently to flooding), many Germans followed suit and set up shop among us – often taking on names such as Krüger or Hecht because they could not pronounce our own language well enough! One such individual operated a grocery store at 5th & State streets until his store burned down circa 1865 (!); another German gentleman ran an alleyway bakery/cafeteria known as Schulz until he closed his business during prohibition days in 1923?! Many families settled hereabouts after making their home elsewhere during this time period (euphemistically called “the Great Migration”) although some did remain until after World War II when conditions worsened following America’s entry into that war against Nazi Germany)! A number of old timers still live hereabouts today including Mrs John Doherty (nee Kapp) who has resided here since she moved from Mayfair IL back in 1906; her grandson JBDoherty lives next door too! Another long-standing resident is Mr Clarence Stutzman who has lived on site longer than almost any other inhabitant! In addition to groceries and two other small businesses that continued operation through Prohibition era days - one being a barbershop run by Dutch Schultz (a major player post prohibition) - all but one bank account closures occurred within what are now just two blocks west of our current location: 5th & State Streets! There would be no bank opening for lack of customers – activities conducted instead primarily through check cashing services !! That said… prior several decades prior this particular stretch adjacent north/south Limits arterial roadway served essentially judicial district courthouse complex housing over 2 dozen law enforcement officers (& jail inmates) aka “Hollywood” !! Prior thereto resided numerous large frame dwellings built specifically for military reasons or purposeful civilian occupancy while various smaller frame residences stood vacant or used occasionally for government function purposes….. typically associated with area’s wealthier citizens enjoying easy access To governmental resources via Hwy 90 ! What we currently occupy constitutes approximately 4/5ths remains onceActually entire original lots comprising present day village boundaries having been parcelized off during initial annexation process back in 1920!!! Amongst later parcelizers many contributed much toward defining contemporaryVillage character thruout ensuing years!!!!!! Today’s Village isn't really that different from it's predecessor even though exterior architecture may have changed somewhat over time due largely to changing zoning regulations ; nonetheless overall feel eases into familiarity pretty quickly especially if you've spent any significant amount Of your life here already!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hanover Park was first settled in 1827 by John Hanover and his family. The community grew rapidly due to the influx of immigrants, and by 1830, it had a population of over 140 people. In 1839, the town of Hanover Park was incorporated as a village. In 1863, the name of the town was changed to Hanover Park after Prince Harry's father, King George III. The village disbanded in 1965 and its members became part of the city of Chicago.
