After IBM announced plans to move its research facilities from Schenectady NY stately old locomotive factory site eastward along I- 90 acrossfrom Rochester Hills MI they asked if they could use Northwest Tech Park so there would be room within reach for all those activities however IBM only rented space inside buildings not built yet so no new factories were born
