Grayslake is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Grayslake was founded in 1872 by John Griggs and his brother-in-law Hiram Hunt as a small community on the edge of Northfield, Illinois. In 1896, Griggs donated land to create what is now Grayslake Park. In 1911, Grayslake organized as an incorporated town and changed its name to Gray's Lake after Abram Gray, one of its founders. The first post office opened in 1913 and the first school was built in 1916. The city annexed neighboring towns of Elgin in 1945 and Oak Forest in 1947; these annexations left Gray's Lake with a total population of 1,362 residents as of 2000. Gray's Lake has been home to several professional sports teams over the years: The Blueshirts (1911–13), Blackhawks (1914–16), Indians (1920–24), Bears (1965–68) and Packers (1984). In 1984, Cubs owner Wrigley Field became available for use by the NFL's Bears so Grayslake became their temporary home until they moved to Soldier Field in downtown Chicago three years later. The current version of Grayslake Stadium was built between 1999 and 2001 on Royden Court off Old Highway K south of I-94 near Interstate 65 just east of its junction with US 60/I-294 border crossing for football games between Northwestern University Wildcats and Illinois Fighting Illini along with other events including concerts by world famous rock bands like Creamsicle Chainsaw Massacre and Alice Cooper happened there until it closed due to funding shortfalls after being used only for football games since opening day which put a stop to that event also

Grayslake is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,527 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Grayslake Township. The name "Gray's Lake" is thought to be derived from the early French explorers who named it la Chaume (thew), meaning "the bottom." The first settlers in what would become Grayslake settled on the site of present-day Grayslake in 1837. A post office was established here in 1838, and by 1840 there were twenty residents. The town charter was granted on December 15, 1846. The original graying trees that line Main Street were planted by James Wessels as part of his farm landscape design project for Grayslake Township. Wessels hired a landscape architect to design and create a harmonious set of trees on his property which are still visible today along Main Street. In 1898, Harry Sargent became president of First National Bank and decided to move the bank from Chicago to Grayslake so he could better serve the community. He donated land for the bank's new building on Main Street and also contributed money towards its initial construction costs which include an ice rink that still operates today! In 1954, when Interstate Highway 95 was built through central Illinois, developers started planning an artificial lake that would form part of their development plan forgrayslake township – they named it Deer Park Lake after nearby Deerfield Village where they had purchased land for their development! However due to rainstorms during construction throughout IL 95, deer stopped entering and eventually died near the end of the construction project; this left behind a beautiful green space with boat ramps available seasonally! In 2007 developer Highmark announced plans to build multiple towers within walking distance of Deer Park Lake– one tower will rise up to 350 feet tall and contain 1 million square feet (100 m2) of floor space! This decision has outraged many people as it will see development close off access to one of Dearborn Heights' most unique features – an amazing open view helicopter landing spot located only minutes away from town center! Despite high levels of public opposition Highmark pulled off their commitment months later despite protests from local citizens who continue to use this spot daily! This story does not stop there however; another developer has decided to build atop another demolished factory right next door – Pinnacle Peak Tower LLC is planning to create over 1 million square feet (100 m2) out front intended primarily for retail usage!!! Unfortunately this too seems like something we can expect more and more often these days………..

Grayslake is located in the northwestern corner of Illinois, just across the state line from Iowa. The town was founded in 1852 by General George Grays, a veteran of the American Civil War and one of the first settlers in what would become Illinois. The town was named for him and his family. Grayslake grew quickly after its founding, becoming one of the most important villages in northern Illinois. In 1907, it became a city and has since grown rapidly into a major center for trade and culture in central Illinois. The history of Grayslake can be traced back to 1852 when General George Grays set out to found a new village on the banks of the Kankakee River. He and his wife-to-be, Anna (née Conklin), traveled westward to find land suitable for settlement. They arrived at what is now Grayslake on April 12th,1852, and began their journey eastward with five families that would soon join them. The first residents of Grayslake were four men: Captain John Hickey, Lieutenant David Hullman, Major James Clementshawe,and William Fenton (the only white person). As time passed and more people moved into Grayslake Township (later called Greys Lake), tension developed between some of the original settlers who wished to maintain close ties with their hometown while others had adopted suburban living habits. This issue would surface again during World War II when many Chicagoans relocated south to escape bombingsarding over there homes by Stonington Division forces during that war era. Today's downtown area contains several businesses dating back to when Grayslake was an agricultural community dotted with small homespun stores run by farmers or their families until about 1930s when larger stores came onto scene followed by manufacturing plants which have continued through today including many restaurants like Zinfandel’s Pizza & Pasta which dates back over sixty years!
