It also saw some significant growth during World War II when manufacturing shifted from nearby Springfield to Godfrey due to wartime shortages of other materials such as rubberband and paper clips; today's economy still relies heavily on manufacturing but now with more than 2023 businesses within 1 mile of each other….the township had a total employment rate over 83% for all workers between 2000-2010…."
