In 1922, a new school district was created with three elementary schools including Glenview Elementary; High Schools Nos 2-4 were built east of I-55 near Cicero Avenue; and Our Lady Of Peace Catholic school opened in 1951 on Westcott Avenue between Dearborn Street and Higgins Road. In 1959, Holy Cross Roman Catholic parish moved from Maywood to Glenview after purchasing land there from Rev.[John] Byrne who served as pastor until his death in 1958; Father John O’Brien served as pastor until his death in 1984 In 1988, Holy Cross erected a new parish hall on East Eisenhower Boulevard adjacent to Blessed Sacrament Catholic church which serves as both worship space for Holy Cross Parish members and office space for Village Manager Dick Condon . That same year also saw the opening of Stowe Senior High School which replaced Sacred Heart Junior/Senior High School which closed in 1987 due to budget cuts associated with suburbanization . This led to increased enrollment at Sacred Heart Junior/Senior High School so that by 1997 only Stowe Senior High still operated . What followed was an eight year renovation project that included replacement or refurbishment of all exterior walls including addition of new roofs over original storm windows; addition/refurbishment of original doors/windows; installation/cording throughout building electrical wiring & plumbing systems such as hot water service; complete rewired interior lighting system providing every light switch with independently adjustable brightness control & dimming capabilities; replacement or refurbishmentof old asphalt driveway pavement including resurfacing with high quality granite pavers following standard specifications set forth by Illinois Department Of Transportation Finally,Programmable Thermostat Replacing Manual Thermostat At All Roomsetups Including Master Bedroom And Bathrooms As Well As Kitchenette By 2018
