Since then, other local developments have followed suit including Knoppers Landing which opened up in 2013 and contains 191 high capacity units; Midtown Crossingwhich opened up in 2016 and contains 184 high capacity units; Trade Way Center which opened up in 2018 and has 175 high capacity units; and Village Center which will open up soon featuring 183 high capacity units.

Macdonalds founded two other businesses: one operated a grocery store and bakery; the other ran a hotel/motel called The Hermitage which became an important stop on stagecoaches between Chicago and St Louis during the early 19th century. In 1884, they sold their business to businessman Augustus Dexters who renamed it The Hermitage Hotel & Casino. The casino closed its doors for good in 1984 but reopened as an agricultural museum within Northwestern University's Evanston campus until 2003 when it closed again due to budget cuts at UI. A new $120 million building was erected on excess property adjacent to UI’s old campus site that opened September 2006 as Glen Ellyn United Methodist Church – anchored by a brand new Commons lawn sculpture garden designed by internationally renowned landscape architect firm ZGF + Partners In 1925, when three brothers - Harry Whitehill (Harry Hine), Willard Drake (Willie Dixon) and Bob Hawley - decided to open their own general store they named it "Your Store" after their mother's maiden name that had been changed shortly before she married Harry Whitehill Sr., daughter of local farmer Isaac Watts Whitehill Sr.. On opening day they were met by 400 people including Mayor John Puskarke along with other dignitaries including Gov Abraham Lincoln . Over time Your Store evolved into what we know today as Hennepin County Hardee’s restaurant chain with more than 1,000 locations throughout North America

Glen Ellyn, Illinois is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 54,827 at the 2000 census. The name "Glen Ellyn" first appears on maps in 1837 as a part of the Shawnee Mission land grant. The town was organized on December 5, 1852 from parts of two other towns: Elgin and West Dundee. It was named for General James A. Glenville (1792-1868), an American general who fought in the Mexican-American War and had success leading cavalry units against Apache Indians. The first store in Glen Ellyn opened in 1854. In 1870, the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad reached the town and began to bring people and products to Glen Ellyn from Chicago. Business boomed during this time and by 1890, there were more than 100 businesses located in Glen Ellyn. The railroad also helped to spur development around downtown with new housing developments, hotels and factories being erected along its tracks. This growth led to a number of problems for residents; many of whom did not have access to necessary services or transportation that would allow them to stayin their homes longterm. In 1920, voters passed a referendum calling for annexation by Chicagoland due to high taxes levied on residents by the city government. However, Chicagoland refused annexation because it felt that Glen Ellyn's economy was too small relative to Chicagoland's size and potential tourist attractions
