In 1916, the company became the Glen Carbon Armory Corporation and production shifted to rifle ammunition. The Armory also manufactured revolvers and pistols under the name of Glen Carbon Arms Corporation. In 1929, the company merged with Armoury-Mackinac Firearms Corporation to form Armoury-Mackinac Rifle & Pistol Company Incorporated. In 1934, the Armoury-Mackinac Rifle & Pistol Company was renamed as the Illinois Armory Corporation and resumed pistol production under that name until it ceased operations in 1968.
Glen Carbon, Illinois is a small town in the northeastern corner of Illinois, located about 25 miles east of Springfield. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. The town was named for George Washington Carver, who settled there in 1881. He was an Agricultural Experiment Station agent and developed arica (a type of corn) here. The town became known for its apples, which are now grown by the local farm store. Glen Carbon has a history dating back to 1812 when Captain John Crouch and his party set out from Fort Dearborn on their way to build a road between Cairo and St Louis. They arrived in what is now Glen Carbon on October 5th, 1812. The first settler in this area was Nicholas Larkin who built a cabin on the banks of the Dan River near present day State Road #36 and US Highway 31A. In 1821, JH Bentley bought 640 acres of land at what is now Glen Carbon from Nicholas Larkin for $2 per acre ($140 today). In 1825, he donated another 320 acres to the Townsite Donation Society for use as a public square where citizens could meet to transact business etcetera. This site would become home to many businesses over time including Mr Cheever's Hardware Store (now defunct),the Masonic Lodge No 1 (which still stands),and finally the current grocery store/cafeteria complex that opened in 1977 by Mrs Betty Kappelbach with help from her husband Don Kappelbach Sr.. On November 10th, 1850 James Bachelder married Sarah Hutton at Zion Baptist Church in nearbySpringfield Township; they soon had two children: James F & Sarah A Bachelder. On July 20th 1861 James F Bachelder died suddenly after being shot by Confederate soldier William Hill while taking part in Union military operations around Cairo Missouri; his wife Sarah Survived him 3 years later and moved back to Glencarbon where she raised their children until her death on May 6th 1947 aged 86 years old; she is buried next to her son James F Bachelder Jr., also buried there with her spouse Sarah A Bachelde

Glen Carbon, Illinois is a small town located in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 1,549 at the 2010 census. Glen Carbon is one of the oldest settlements in Kane County and has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two centuries. In 1812, Captain George Rogers Clark founded the village of Glen Carbon on the east side of what is now Aurora Avenue and State Street in what is now downtown Chicago. The first store opened in 1813 and the first home was built in 1815. In 1824, John Strothers opened a grocery store at Ninth and Dearborn Streets in Glen Carbon. John Strothers was also one of the early settlers who started corn farming near present-day Crystal City. From this business activity, Glenn Carbon derived its name which means "the place where corn is grown." Glencarbon's economy changed during the American Civil War because of trade with surrounding states that were warring with each other. The pro-Union sentiment in Illinois increased after Lincoln's victory over Confederate General Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House on April 9th, 1865. This increase in trade made it difficult for Union soldiers to obtain food supplies needed for their fighting efforts and resulted in an economic decline for Glencarbon during the war years. However, since post-war times there have been many new businesses established within Glencarbon including a hospital (Glen Carbon Health Services), several restaurants/cafes/bars/, as well as construction company HQ2 which will be located along State Street next to United Airlines Headquarters originally planned by local developer Dick Cheney Jr.. The population of Glencarbon decreased from 1,549 residents at the 2010 census to 889 residents by 2016 due to migration from other nearby villages such as Crystal City and Downers Grove which experienced significant growth during this time period due to their proximity to Chicago’s metropolitan area or job opportunities within commuting distance). However, although these recent decreases may reflect some challenges faced by small towns throughout Illinois due to demographic changes over time (such as increasing competition from larger municipalities), overall Glencarbon has experienced significant stability since its peak population levels more than 30 years ago thanks largely to strong local partnerships forged between community members and city government officials who work together collaboratively towards shared goals
