Holsters that rely on belt loops or straps to keep the holster attached to your waist tend to be less reliable but offer greater versatility for concealed carry purposes. Glen Carbon is located in east-central Kane County on the banks of the River Calumet. The community was founded in 1872 by John Haggerty and his family from Kentucky as a settlement on land that had been claimed by both Indiana and Illinois. In 1881, Glen Carbon became an incorporated village and in 1907 it became a city. The city was merged with neighboring Aurora in 1997 and its name changed to Chicago Heights/Chicago Park/Glen Carbon City. The economy of Glen Carbon is based mostly on agriculture, with some light industry currently taking place including a paper manufacturing company and two shoe factories; both closed in 2009. The community has also long been home to many local farmers who produce vegetables, fruits, grains, eggs and other products for local markets; several restaurants serve locally sourced food as well as very limited grocery store options available within walking distance of most residents.

and Glen Carbon High School Glen Carbon is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the right bank of the Chicago River, about 15 miles south of Chicago. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. The town name comes from the word "gleann" meaning "forest." The first settler in what is now Glen Carbon was James Hogg who arrived in 1837 and settled near present-day Glen Ellyn. Hogg's heirs sold their holdings to George Stephenson in 1839 for $4,000 ($ as of 2017). Stephenson built a sawmill and lumberyard here which became one of the leading mills in McLean County. In 1852, John Quincy Adams Sr., then U.S. Senator from Illinois and future president (1888-92), moved his family to Glen Carbon from Quincy, Massachusetts and began living there fulltime. When he left office in 1892 he donated land for a high school which was opened in 1895 by Governor John Peter Zenger (1795-1876). Glen Carbon High School offers classes through 11th grade with a focus on agricultural sciences; business administration; English/language arts; world languages: Spanish and Portuguese; health science/medical assisting; social work/human services; mathematics; physical education/sports coaching; professional counseling(s); Environmental Science & Technology classroom courses offered through its three divisions: Earth Sciences I & II*, Health Sciences*& III** The Glenncarbon Blue Jays Little League team has been playing since 1978 and finished second place last year behind Oak Park Township
