The first gun target competitions were held at the old White Settlement Farm in Geneva in 1892. The first target rifle rifle club was organized in 1893 by Capt. James Gilmore who was also the founder of Geneva Township. The first pistol match was held on October 15th, 1895 by Capt. John Ahern with three handguns and one Rifleman’s Trophy given to the winner In 1898, town fathers passed an ordinance providing for designated shooting areas within town limits which would be used for local sanctioned matches only. From then until 1962 when state law changedaska Target Shooting Association (ASTSA) became the governing body for all Gun Fairs in Illinois they had conducted all matches inside or outside of town limits…This arrangement continued until ASTSA merged with National Sporting Goods Association (NRA) in 1963 creating what is now known as American Sportsmen’s Associazione (ASA). This amendment provided jurisdiction over firearm safety rules and regulations including eligibility requirements for memberships and participation which has resulted in consistent quality standards across both organizations throughout their existence. At this time there were over 260 member clubs statewide membership ran out of membership by 2006 with less than 10 clubs still active today From its inception through 1987 ASA hosted a World Championship Cup every two years contested by top opponents from around the world Today it is virtually impossible not to find an NRA Certified course or NRA Pistol Match taking place somewhere inside or outside of Geneva; whether it be an open air range or a government sponsored facility like city hall park where you can rent complete stands for just $10 per day! In Geneva, Illinois, the first gun target was located in 1856. The original target was a small post. The post was replaced by a larger one in 1875. In 1903, the targets were moved to the current location on North First Street.
Geneva is a city in the Illinois Territory, located in the centralwest of the United States. The population was 12,383 at the 2010 census. Geneva is one of six cities included in Carbondale, Illinois. Geneva was founded by James Kapp and his family on July 1, 1814 as a farmstead called "Kipp's Prairie". The first European to visit Geneva was Jean Baptiste Point du Sable on October 5, 1807. That same year, French explorer Pierre François La Salle visited the area and named it for General de Lacrosse (1694-1757), who had led an army against Spanish forces at Yorktown during the American Revolutionary War. In 1821, General Nathan Bedford Forrest set up headquarters in Geneva after capturing Fort Donelson from Spain near Nashville Tennessee. Forrest soon became known as "the father of modern guerrilla warfare" because he used tactics such as ambush and hit-and-run raids to survive and advance through enemy lines while avoiding combat with large professional armies. In 1827, Forrest appointed George Rogers Clark commander of West Tennessee Volunteers when he took command of operations against Mexican general Antonio López de Santa Anna south of Austin Texas. Clarks task force numbered more than 350 men but only managed to capture two Mexican soldiers and one artillery piece before they were repulsed by Mexican military reinforcements under Santa Anna.. This failed attack launched from Lamar Hill on November 8th1827 is generally considered to be one of history's greatest strategic failures . On February 2nd 1840, Geneva became part of Indiana Territory when that state seceded from Missouri over its disagreement with the Missouri Compromise which divided Missouri into five slave states: free soil Virginia; slaveholding Arkansas; slaveholding Kentucky; slaveholding Mississippi; and slaveholding Ohio . However,stonishingly enough – just three years later – on August 20th1842 Aurora County Republican Party Chairman Lorenzo Jarratt petitioned Congress for annexation into what would become Carbondale Township since there were no other towns within Indiana Territory larger than 1 mile square containing a population over 10 thousand people! On January 7th1843 territorial judge Samuel Hodge ruled that Aurora County could be annexed into Carbondale Township due to its high population density! This momentous occasion marked a turning point in history as it finally legitimized village growth throughout much of Western Illinois despite resistance from powerful eastern interests including those associated with Abraham Lincoln’s political party who saw village growth as an infringement upon their domain

In 1832, Geneva became the capital of Illinois Territory and began to develop into a bustling city. The city saw significant growth in the late 19th century as it became an important transportation hub for goods between Chicago and other parts of the Midwest. During World War I, Geneva played an important role as a military base and staging ground for operations in France. After the war, Geneva experienced rapid growth as an agricultural center and hosting port for goods traveling across the Great Lakes region. In the 1960s, Geneva lost much of its commercial activity but has since regained some importance as a vibrant community with strong cultural values.
Geneva was created in 1802 as a result of the Missouri Compromise, which ended the Second Native American War. The city grew rapidly in the late 19th century due to its location on the Illinois River and its easy access to transportation. In 1907, Geneva became the capital of Illinois.
