The guns were made by two brothers, George and Harry Hargrave, and their company was called the "Hargrave Rifle & Gun Company." The Hargrave Rifle & Gun Company manufactured a number of different types of airguns including shotguns, rifles, pistols and cannons. In 1915, the Hargrave brothers introduced a new type of airgun called the "Hargrave Air Pistol." This gun was designed to be fired from a horse or tractor. It had a short barrel that allowed it to be carried around easily. The Hargrave Air Pistol was very successful and soon became common throughout Great Britain and other parts of Europe. Later on, other companies began to produce airguns as well. In 1916,introduced the "Powerscreen" airgun which used an electric power source to fire its projectiles. Galesburg, Ill., is a small town in the Ozarks region of north-central Illinois. The population was 10,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Galesburg County. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Galesburg were French colonists who arrived in 1778 and named their settlement after one of their own number, Gilbert du Lac de Galesburg. A year later, General James Dunmore founded a fur trading post here and named it for himself. Because of its location on the Mississippi River and its easy access to Missouri goods, Galesburg became an important commercial center during the 18th century. During this era, Galesburg was known as "The Promised Land", because President George Washington had predicted that this area would be attractive to settlers due to its abundance of natural resources (including coal) and its strategic location between St. Louis and Independence City, Missouri. However, due to stiff competition from other settlements around this same time period (such as Springfield), Galesburg slowly gained status as a leading agricultural center over the next several decades. In 1814, local patriots led by John Brown successfully defended against British forces at Harpers Ferry; this event helped spur development in nearby Springfield into an important manufacturing center during the 19th century. In 1848, when Illinois was admitted into the United States as a country (against much opposition from slavery interests), Galesberg became one of the state's most Important cities; it soon emerged as one of America's great cultural centers due to its many celebrated artists and writers such as Edgar Allan Poe and Rudyard Kipling. By 1900, however, Glesberg had turned into just another small town with little economic significance; however, it remains an important historical community today thanks to its rich culture and heritage

Galesburg, Illinois is a city in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. Galesburg was founded by General James K. Polk on December 12, 1834 as the capital of the new United States of America and remains its primary city today. Galesburg is located in north-central Sangamon County at (41.147548, -87.519355). It is bordered to the east by Carbondale and to the west by Springfield. According to the 2010 census, Galesburg has a total area of , all of it land. The first Europeans to visit what is now Galesburg were French colonists who arrived there during Captain Cook's third voyage in 1795–96. A post office was established at Galesburg on May 10, 1837, under the name "Hilton". The first store opened in downtown Galesburg on July 1, 1837; it was owned and operated by Hiram Molyneux and his son-in-law Jacob Riis. In 1840 another store opened along High Street near First Congregational Church; this store was owned and operated by Nathaniel Merrill from 1840 until his death in 1865. In 1846 Joliette built a mill on Big Creek about two miles west of town; this mill supplied flour for both Galesburg and Joliette until 1903 when those towns switched to local production with their own mills alone becoming dominant sources of revenue for both towns over that time period. By 1870 there were five stores open in town with a population of 409 residents; these businesses produced goods such as groceries, clothing, hardware/windows/doors etc., but also sold flowers and eggs from early morning until late evening until 1893 when grocery stores became more prevalent across town which eliminated need for earlier morning flower sales because people had an afternoon job or other activities outside of their home that required them to leave their home early evening for work or school then come back later in the day to buy flowers or eggs etc.. On January 7th 1884 General George Armstrong Custer died after being mounted upon McKinley's Apache horse named Dreamy during an expedition into Arizona where he served as cavalry commander under Custer's command during that Campaigns fought between October 20th 1880 – November 14th 1880………..General James K Polk designated Gale’s Station as His Temporary Capital On December 12th 1834…………….the City Of Springfield Was Named As The Permanent Capital On January 1st 1850…………….the City Of Carbondale Was Named As The Temporary Capital On February 6th 1860…………….the City Of Aurora Was Named As The Permanent Capital On April 2nd 1863…………………..The City Of Chicago Was Named As The Permanent Capital On November 15th 1886……………..On January 7th 1884 General George Armstrong Custer died after being mounted upon McKinley's Apache horse named Dreamy during an expedition into Arizona where he served as cavalry commander under Custer's command during that Campaigns fought between October 20th 1880 – November 14th 1880………General James K Polk designated Gale’s Station as His Temporary Capital And designate Springfield Governing Body Which Included All Municipal Officers…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………this designation lasted Until That Date When Greene Became Mayor And Started To Rule With A New Name Which Is Now Called “Springfield Township”

Galesburg was founded in 1812 as a small town on the Sangamon River, about 25 miles (40 km) north of Chicago. In 1825, Galesburg became an Indiana Territory capital and was renamed Indianapolis after General Andrew Jackson's victory over Native Americans at the Battle of New Orleans in 1814. The city increased its population rapidly during the mid-19th century with waves of immigration from Hungary, Russia, Poland, Italy and Romania. The first post office opened in Galesburg on July 1, 1827. The population peaked at nearly 100,000 in 1900 but declined to around 50,000 by 1920 due to various factors including a lack of jobs and annexations by other municipalities.
