Franklin Park is a large city in the southcentral region of Illinois, just across the state line from Missouri. The population was 44,898 at the 2010 census. It has a rich history dating back to 1824 when it was part of the Native American village of Kaskaskia. In 1848, the area became part of the Village of Chicago after being donated by its founder, George Washington Carver. The park covers over 6 square miles (15 km2) and is home to more than 100 attractions and organizations including various museums, libraries, hospitals and other public services. The park also contains a nature reserve with over 1,000 acres (400 ha) of woodlands and wetlands. Franklin Park is one of the largest urban parks in Illinois. The first people to live in what is now Franklin Park were French explorers who set up a trading post here in 1765-67. In 1824-25, General James Wilkinson founded what would become known as Chicago on this site after donating land to that extent for that purpose. At first Chicago consisted only of small villages around Lake Michigan; but until about 1830, these villages had no collective governing body other than their individual farmers or hunters/gatherers who managed their own affairs through councils and chiefdoms or societies d’initiative ferme (initially 2-6 men). The first town chartered under United States Constitution was Cairo (now Elmhurst), which chartered on December 13th,.1817; but because it did not have an election for municipal officers until April 8th,.1820 (!), it does not qualify as one of “the original thirteen cities” mentioned in Article I Section 8(a). In 1830–31 City Council passed an ordinance creating a sanitary district comprising all present day Franklin Park east of State Street including Randall’s Grove; which covered most of what is now Midway Cemetery today while buildings still stand near Wacker Drive inside current Limits OF Franklinspark IL—not within Limits OF Franklinspark IL as initially proposed! This ordinance provided for: –An Act for erecting Fort Dearborn on Goose Island originally granted by President John Quincy Adams pursuant to Treaty Of Prairie du Chien dated September 12th,.1812 between France & Great Britain resulting from Invasion Of Canada On October 15th,.1812 by Ulysses S Grant & his Army!
