Franklin Park was home to a number of holster companies during the 1800s. The first holster company in Franklin Park was Hagerstown Armory, which opened in 1823. In 1827, John D. Rockefeller founded the Wakarusa Rifle and Pistol Company, which produced firearms for the American Indian Wars. The company also manufactured holsters for citizens. In 1830, Colt Manufacturing Company started producing revolvers in Illinois. By 1840, Colt had developed a process that allowed revolver production to be done at a much lower cost than traditional manufacturing methods. This innovation led to Colt becoming one of the most successful firearms manufacturers in America by 1850. In 1851, Frankfort Armory was established in Franklin Park by George Wickersham and Daniel Webster. The company became one of the largest handgun manufacturers in America and produced pistols as well as revolvers throughout the 1800s and into the 1900s. During World War I, Wickersham’s company produced over 100 million rounds of ammunition for military use alone. After World War I ended, Wickersham transitioned his business to firearm preservation and restoration efforts until his death in 1955. Today, Frankfort Armory is still operational with a focus on pistol production and gun safety education activities

This type of holster is best for handguns with multiple rounds in them because you cannot put those rounds back in until you remove the holster from around your neck; this makes it difficult to use other devices such as sunglasses or phones while wearing an OWB holster. Belt-clip holsters typically attach around your belt using metal straps (or sometimes elastic straps) and clips onto your gunsights or pistol belts. These holsters allow quick access to your weapon without having to take off your clothing completely. Belt clipholster models also exist where you can wear them across both hips so that if something falls off during transport it won't affect how quickly you can access your handgun
Franklin Park was founded in 1837 as a small town on the banks of the Illinois River. The name derived from Franklin Street, which bisected the town and ran through it from east to west. In 1857, the town was renamed Elmira after Stephen A. Elmira, an American lawyer and politician who served in Congress from 1853-1865. The name change came about because Elmira had been changed to Scranton by Pennsylvania governor Andrew Dennison in order to distance the town from Pittsburgh, which was then part of Pennsylvania. In 1924, Franklin Park merged with neighboring towns of Cicero and Romeoville to form the city of Chicago. Roosevelt Field at nearby Roosevelt University became home to Northwestern Illinois College (NICO) during World War II before being restored as a college field house in 1969. NICO moved into its current building on State Street within the city Limits on July 1, 1974 following approval by Mayor Richard M. Daley and City Councilmember Edward J. Byrne Jr..
