Franklin Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 83,643 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Chicago after Chicago Heights. The city of Franklin Park was formed from part of the original village of Franklin Township, which was consolidated with the current city on March 14, 1874. The first store entered into Franklin Park by John Aiken and his brother Amos Aiken on January 1, 1839. This small grocery store became an important center for trade within the early town of Franklin Township as well as within what would become Franklin Park. By 1860, there were six stores in the area and four blacksmiths. In 1870, a company called The Citizens National Bank opened up shop in what would become the bank's building still standing today at 77 Wabash Avenue - one of only two buildings remaining from that time period still in use in Franklin park! This development served as a major impetus for growth for both markets - retail and commercial – within what would become known as "The City." The Commercial District continued to grow throughthe years until it reached its peak around 1910 when twenty businesses operated inside of three blocks! However this era also saw some significant Liverpool Street Development taking place including several large apartment buildings erected just north of Wabash Avenue between State and Roosevelt Roads during this time period which further boosted commercial activity along Liverpool Street corridor. It wasn't until 1962 that construction began on what would be known as "The Loop" – now home to many high-end retailers including Sears Tower and Apple Inc.'s newly built Campus Center – which helped spur even more economic development along La Salle Boulevard east to Indiana Drive/Lake Shore Drive leading up to Lake Michigan where hundreds more businesses have since sprung up over time!

Franklin Park is a large, rectangular park in the northwest side of Chicago. The park was named for Benjamin Franklin, who lived in the city from 1795 to 1848. The first public use of Franklin Park was on July 4, 1829, when a small picnicground and campground were established by members of the First Chicago organization. In 1839, the park became an open space with abinade and bandstand. On October 20, 1850, Mayor John P. Quinn dedicated the park as a public square at its center. The dedication ceremony included speeches by Illinois Governors George Washington Carver and Abraham Lincoln. The present-day Franklin Park was created in 1893 through annexation of part of Dearborn Park east of Michigan Avenue. When Dearborn Park was annexed, it also acquired land near Rush Street on the Northwest Side that had been used as an agricultural area since the mid-19th century. In 1893–1894, work began on creating a large rectangular park on this new property. The original design called for trees and grasslands along both sides of Lake Michigan; however, this plan was changed after objections from local landowners who saw their land taken away without compensation. Work proceeded slowly until 1903 when then-Mayor James Buchanan dedicated the largest single piece of parkland in Chicago with more than 1 million square feet (93 hectares) including two baseball diamonds and four tennis courts—the only such facility at that time within city limits. It took another decade before all outstanding features were completed: two football stadiums (one built largely because of donations from business people), an amusement palace designed by architects Edward Linnell and John Wellesley Dixon – home to what is now known as Soldier Field –and three other parks: Harper Fields on the South Side; Garfield Ridge on the West Side; and North Kenwood Boulevard on Milwaukee Avenue between State Street and Grand Avenue). Today’s Franklin Park preserves many important aspects of early Chicago history while also inviting visitors to enjoy nature around them. One such feature is its wide variety of trees: over 350 species are found here! Additionally, benches have been added throughout each area so that people can relax or listen to music while looking out at Lake Michigan or taking in views from various points around town or across into neighboring suburbs..
Franklin Park was created in 1892 when the Chicago Board of Education bought a large tract of land east of present-day Soldier Field. The park is named after General James K. Polk, who served as president from 1849 to 1853 and was one of the leaders in creating the United States government. Franklin Park includes more than 20 miles of trails, including a 1.6-mile loop walk known as "The Great Loop." In addition to its recreational opportunities, Franklin Park also provides a facility for the Chicago Park District that includes an aquarium, two tennis courts, a playground and a number of other programs and events.
