Polk served as Franklin D Roosevelt’s Vice President from1897-1901 while also serving as Mayor of Chicago during that time period; this made him one of only two U S Senators from Illinois to serve continuously since statehood in 1863! In 1906–07 when Al Capone was wanted for trial for tax evasion – he left Chicago for Frankfort where he released $5 million worth (equivalent to $200 million today) in cash through various intermediaries into several banks across America including J P Morgan Chase & Co., National City Bank (now HSBC), First National Bank (now Wells Fargo), American Trust Company and many others before finally being apprehended on May 14th - just eleven days after his escape!
