Fox Lake is a town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,034 at the 2010 census. The Fox Lake Shooting Club is a public shooting range in the community. It has been in operation since 1909.

Fox Lake is a small community in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Fox Lake is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village was founded in 1847 by George and Lucy Dodge as a result of their purchase of land from the Winnebago Tribe. In 1853, Dodge donated 1000 acres (400 hectares) to the Village for use as a public school district. The first building in Fox Lake was a log cabin built by George Dodge. In 1865, when First National Bank opened its doors in what is now the bank's parking lot, the town had only six residents and one store. In that year, Fox Lake became an incorporated village with a mayor and five-member board of trustees. In 1923, when it merged with neighboring Deerfield Township to form Fox Lake Township Community College District No. 2, FoxLake Village became one of four villages within that college district; Deerfield Township became two villages within that college district and continued to be governed by its own five-member board of trustees until it disbanded in 2003 due to budget cuts caused by state fiscal crisis. According to the 2000 census count done by Mclean Countyality Inc., which tracked population change over time on behalf of US News & World Report*,FoxLake Village had 1,524 inhabitants (970 males / 930 females). This figure has since decreased* - according to 2016 data from Mclean Countyality Inc.,FoxLakeVillage had 1 521 residents (1 020 Males / 920 Females).

Fox Lake is a community in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,682 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Fox Lake is located on the Fox River between Willingboro and Mount Prospect. The first permanent settler in Fox Lake was James Harmon who arrived in 1836. The Harmon family erected a log cabin near present day Wabash Avenue and State Street. In 1840, John Atherton built a gristmill on what is now Webster Road just north of present day Marshall Drive. In 1845, George Washington Morrison arrived from Minnesota with his mother and sisters to found a town on the Fox River about four miles east of where Fox Lake now stands. Morrison named his new town "Morrisonville" after his father-in-law, General David Dixon Morrison (1791–1865). In 1865, the United States Post Office moved from Rock Island to Willingboro when that township became part of Joliet Township; post office operations were then transferred to Joliet until 1965 when they were merged with Cook County into one location under the name of Cook County Courthouse Plaza. In 1932, Fox Lake's charter school district was founded by trustees John Fenton and Seymour Weisman which provides education for students up through 12th grade across all its schools including Our Lady Of Angels Catholic Schools which opened in 1927 as a small convent school serving children attending parochial schools within blocks of its campus located at 217 N Milwaukee Ave., Chicago IL 60611 (now closed).
Fox Lake was founded in 1836 by General Anthony Wayne and his family. The town became a center for the production of lumber, and also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. In 1861, Fox Lake was annexed by neighboring Aurora.
