In 1872, George Stephenson invented the first practical oil-fired firearms. The three-man company he started, Stephens and Sons of Fox Lake, produced arms for the Illinois militia. Fox Lake is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located in the eastern part of the county and is bordered by the towns of West Dundee and Harvey. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Fox Lake is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village of Fox Lake was annexed by the town in 1913. The first settler in what would become Fox Lake was Nicholas Weisner, who arrived in 1837 with his family from Hungary. Weisner built a cabin on the east side of Fox Creek about two miles (3 km) south of present day Fox Lake Village Hall. In 1838, weisernaner pioneer George Jelliffe settled about northeast of present day FoxLake on land that he had bought from David Shoemaker for $2 per acre ($20 per km²). According to legend, one winter when game were scarce and noices were heard coming out of the woods near where foxes could be found easily enough to skin them, President Abraham Lincoln ordered General John Urquhart to cross into Illinois from Michigan and capture or kill all these animals before they could bring much food home with them. This event is said to have created some community sentiment against Urquhart because many people felt he had taken too much from their country without providing anything back in return. In 1853-54, Jedediah Smith traveled through this area on his way downriver to eventual discovery of Illinois' great seat at Kaskaskia (now Stokk City). A party led by Smith reached what would becomeFoxLake on November 10th, 1853 after spending several days traveling overland through snow drifts that lined both banks of creek bed leading into it from southern Wisconsin; it has been said that this first sighting may have inspired Lewis & Clark's exploration further up river some years later which may have led them eventually encountering Native Americans living along this stretch now known as Indiana State Road 20

A few years later, British inventor John Herschel designed an improved telescope known as The Very Large Telescope (VLT). This telescope had two objectives: one was focused on the center point of the image while another was focused on nearby objects outside of its viewing area- allowing users TO SEE FAR AWAY TARGETS WITH A RIFLE SCOPE! This invention forever changed how people viewed Warfare and opened up many new opportunities for sniper warfare!
