Forest Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 26,869 at the 2010 census. Forest Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The park was formed from land that once extended to what is now the eastern edge of the Loop. The first forest park in Chicago was organized on May 6, 1887 by Mayor John Drysdale and Alderman John Fenton. It was located on the east side of State Street between Jackson Boulevard and Wacker Drive. The site has since been reassigned several times, but remains one of the most important urban forests in Chicago. In 1906, Forest Park became a municipality with its own government and school district; it still includes portions of Humboldt Park and Lawndale neighborhoods within its borders today. In addition to its recreational activities there are also currently being considered plans for office buildings within ForestPark itself which could house up to 1200 jobs depending on final design... Plans call for a new expressway leading directly into ForrestPark from Eisenhower Expressway near O'Hare airport would be built providing access Geneva Rd./Oak Lawn Ave., connecting both business districts with quick transportation options right outside doorsteps
