The Forest Park Rifle & Pistol Club was chartered in 1881. The first Annual Meeting of the club was held on October 17, 1881 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hurlbut in Forest Park. The club served as a social and recreational organization for residents of the village until it disbanded in 1907. In 1911, the Forest Park Rifle & Pistol Club re-emerged under new management with the purchase of a house on Deerfield Road by Mr. and Mrs. Jinksen. The original clubhouse building was replaced by this structure in 1917-18 and is still used today as the club’s headquarters. The club enjoyed continued success through World War II when it hosted military officers from all over Illinois for rifle matches at their facility. During its time as a rifle and pistol society, the Forest Park Rifle & Pistol Club amassed many valuable memberships including such distinguished individuals as Mayor John Cullerton, Drury University Professor Edward Dickson, US Senator Charles Sumner, Congressman Emanuel Celler, President Franklin D Roosevelt and numerous other prominent citizens from throughout Illinois’ political landscape. Forest Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 54,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Forest Park was founded in 1871 as a small village by John H. Woodruff and his family. The community grew quickly and by 1881 had an estimated population of 2,500 people. In 1902, Forest Park became a city with its own government and incorporated as a town on April 20th, 1903. On December 1st of that year, the original limits of Forest Park were increased to include all of what is now River North Side (including parts of West Side) south to Wacker Drive and east to Addison Road. In 1907, the City Council decided to build a new Municipal Stadium on the site of current Soldier Field; this decision allowed Forest Park to become one of the most successful cities in Illinois for municipal stadiums development. That same year also saw the opening of their first commercial building within the city limits: The Lighthouse Restaurant & Brewery located at 501 N Southport Ave., which remains one of Forest Park's most popular destinations today (although it no longer functions as a restaurant). The city's success continued into the 1920s with many new businesses being opened including several hospitals such as Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Hospital – both now gone but still visible from various blocks around town over time due to their location just across Roosevelt Road from downtown). Additionally thanks in part to strong support from Mayor James Cunningham and City Councilman Julius Rosenwald – who chaired both bodies at that time – forest park experienced impressive growth even beyond its borders with annexed areas such as portions of Mayfair Village (now home to Grant Park), Clybourn Heights (nowhome to Bridgeview Recreation Center), Deerfield Beach (now home to Prairie View A&M University), Lincolnwood Heights (now home to Elmhurst Community College) etc .. Finally during World War II much like many other American municipalities there was significant wartime activity taking place within or adjacent I-94 corridor giving rise both largely anecdotal reports about Sherman Avenue thoroughfare being jammed with ammunition wagons filled with rifle barrels leading up Kimball Avenue(adjacent State Street exit) during rush hours followed by long lines out front local grocery stores/pizza places making way for processing plants run by thousands upon thousands military personnel working long shifts without any rest or opportunity for anything other than shoveling snow off cars outside until eventually evening rolled around… these types of stories are legion but unfortunately they don’t tell nearly enough about how wonderful life was back then when compared TO how bad it has become since then! After World War II came an era where few if any major business ventures took place within or adjacent I-94 corridor save for two isolated incidents which have come down almost completely out-of-context: One instance occurred when TV station WBBM aired an advertising campaign featuring then President Harry S Truman; commercials ran concurrently throughout various northwest side neighbourhoods resulting in widespread damage/caused deaths due To sparks flying through airfields near our city center causing large fires; second incident involved wealthy businessmen purchasing large tracts next door on Halsted Street fromthen Mayor Harold Washington following his election victory; both men effectively shortchanged their respective neighborhood groups who ended up having little say whatsoever about what ultimately happened once those lands went private.. Although ForrestPark did experience some modest post-war boom years thanks largely to developing numerous light industrial parks throughout suburban Cook county – although they were often overshadowed by neighboring communities that enjoyed far greater economic stability – overall its fortunes declined steadily thereafter culminating in bankruptcy filed shortly after Barack Obama became president in 2008%. Despite this history however ForrestPark has managed - albeit unsuccessfully so far -to reemerge somewhatReturning growth rates have been achieved via initiatives such as reconnecting old streetscapes primarily along Roosevelt RoadWalking trails have been established throughout much heartland Chicago neighborhoods formerly lost forever due mostlyto highway construction projects meanwhile redevelopment efforts continue apace providing hope for resurgence soon!
