The first firearms magazines were published in the United States in 1795. The first gun magazine was called "The American Rifleman." In 1824, the first edition of "Guns and Gunsmiths" was published. In 1829, "The Sporting Magazine" was published. In 1857, "National Firearms Journal" was published. From 1868 to 1865, "Pioneering Magazines" was published. In 1902, the first issue of the "Gun Digest Book of Arms and Armor" was published. In 1907, "American Rifleman," which had been renamed as the "National Rifleman," merged with another magazine, called the "Bulletin Board." The two magazines continued to publish together until 1945 when they merged into what is now known as NRA Publications Incorporated. There have been many different types and sizes of firearms magazines over time due to advancements in technology and changing needs for guns. Today's largest firearm mags typically contain upwards of 100 issues each. Historically, handgun mags have tended not to be as large as rifle or pistol mags but have instead contained an equal number of issues for each type of weapon that is being shot with ( pistols tend to have more than one issue per round while rifles usually carry three). Forest Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 73,598 at the 2010 census. It is the ninth-largest city in Illinois and the third-largest in Chicago metropolitan area. Forest Park is home to several cultural attractions, including the Chicago Zoo and Regal Cinema Theatre. The first Europeans to visit what is now Forest Park were hunter-gatherers who traveled through present day northern Cook County on their way from points north to find game reserves. On July 4, 1818, a group of about twenty men and boys from Point Pleasant Prairie (now part of Glenview) set out from that town for what would become Forest Park as they journeyed northwest across Lake Michigan towards Green Bay. They stopped at Fort Dearborn on their way east and erected a small cross on the shore of this current site which still stands today; it was later called 'The crosses'. The first permanent settler in what would become Forest Park was Captain John Callahan of Galena who built a log cabin near present day Van Buren Street and Old Colony Road on November 15, 1824. In 1830 Callahan traded his land for 400 acres (16 km²) of forest land east of where he had built his cabin with George Washington White who ran the Indiana Territory government's office at Ottawa House in Milwaukee (then part of Racine). This parcel became known as White's Woods or simply "Callahan Woods". In 1837 Territorial Governor Isaac Hull founded Ft Dearborn National Military Reserve just south of present day Van Buren Street between State Street and Old Colony Road - this reserve formed much of modern Forest Park. The following year President James K. Polk issued an executive order creating Ft Dearborn National Military Reserve with its headquarters located within what are now Crystal City Drive and Clarendon Avenue inside present day West Side Cemetery next to Soldier Field sports arena – Fort Dearborn thus became one of America's earliestNational military installations outside Continental/American borders This initial Ft Dearborn reservation included all or most present day Crystal City Drive/Clarendon Ave., parts of Northwest Side (between 95th & 97th Streets), Midtown South Side (between Wacker Drive & Armoury Roads), Harlem Heights (between Harlem Boulevard & Devon Place), Lawndale (northwest corner Evergreen Ln./Old Irving Rd.), parts of Backwater Ravine/Van Nuys Blvd., Sunnyside Heights/Lawndale Hills/Hollywood Hills and portions now belonging to Elmhurst Township . Fort Dearborn served as America's first national military installation outside Continental/ American borders until 1863 when it became US Naval Station Atchison – Topeka during World War I while also functioning as Post Office for Atchison District . In 1865 Congress created McCloy Army Airfield adjacent to Ft Dearborne using surplus lands acquired during Reconstruction following the Civil War including some lands aroundpresent Day Crystal City Dr./Clarendon Ave . . McCloy Field eventually became Dyess Air Force Base which currently houses NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center after being transferred from Wright–Patterson AFB Dayton OH . The city was founded on August 18, 1871 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calumet County Surveyor John Taylor with land that he donated to the state of Illinois as part of the Fort Dearborn Purchase. It was named after Frederick Law Olmsted's father-in-law, Judge David Ralston Forest. The original village of Forest Park had its start in 1872 when a group of businessmen and women who lived around Northwestern Railway Station built a small cabin for themselves on what is now Parnell Road. In 1876, the Village of Forest Park passed an ordinance providing for municipal government and setting out rules for town meetings, water supplies, fire departments and more. On October 10th of that year residents voted to incorporate as a city with Fredrick Law Olmsted as its first mayor. On January 1st 1893 Mayor Olmsted unveiled new plans for what would become one of Chicago's most popular public parks - Forest Park! He proposed creating a large open space between Wabash Avenue and Lake Shore Drive which would house all sorts of recreation including tennis courts (the first in Chicago), baseball diamonds(the first in Chicago), playgrounds (the first in Chicago), swimming pools (the world’s largest at that time) and much more! Today Presented by Friends Of Forest Park Inc., there are over 150 acres filled with beautiful gardens, ponds & lakes perfect for play or relaxation – making it one of our top tourist destinations! In 1904 Mayor Leland Stanford gave his final approval to construction on what would become Michigan Avenue - home to both City Hall and then State Street Subway Terminal which served as Oak Lawn’s main business district until 1974 when it became downtown Chiropractic Plaza! This area now houses many restaurants such as Olive Garden and Red Lobster while also housing several high-rise buildings such as One Sheraton Center!
Forest Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 23,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The forest park district was organized on November 3, 1892 by Mayor George Pullen and City Councilman John Ruggles as a Bronx MERCEDES-Benz cemetery for Redevelopment Association members who had deceased in Forest Park or elsewhere in Cook County. The first burial took place on December 2, 1892. Theodore Roosevelt's funeral occurred at the Forest Park Cemetery on October 12, 1908. In 1925, Forest Park became one of two cities in Illinois to elect its own mayor and city council from among themselves instead of being elected by the voters of each town within the city limits. In 1955, Forest Park annexed part of Grosse Pointe Woods north of Michigan Avenue and built an expressway through it which remains today known as I-90 (though originally Boulevard de la Gloire). In 1978, all but 5% of Forrest Park's homes were replaced with new suburban homes funded by Hometown Home Mortgage Corporation due to concerns over depletion of natural resources and dwindling demand for housing in downtown Chicago; however many original homes still remain standing across streets such as South State Street and Michigan Avenue making Forrest Park one of few remaining downtown areas in Chicago that has not been completely depleted by development. On November 3rd 2006 Forrest Park announced they would be building a new high school called "John Marshall" which would replace their current school that opened in 1984 which had been condemned following years of neglect
