In 1881, a group of Fairview Heights businessmen decided to start a rifle company. They named the company "Fairview Rifle & Tool Co." and began producing firearms. The rifles were initially made of wood but soon began to be made out of metal. The company continued to produce firearms until 1911 when it merged with another rifle company, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, to form Winchester-Winchester Firearms Corporation. In 1916, the corporation became part of Colt Arms Corporation. It was through Colt that the rifle scope became popular in American society.

Fairview Heights is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Village was founded in 1892 and named for George FairVIEW, an early settler who donated land to be used as a Village square. The village has two schools: Fairview Heights Elementary School and Fairview Heights High School. There are also three churches within the village- First Baptist Church (founded in 1886), Adventist Church (1890), and Methodist EpiscopalChurch (1902). As of the 2010 census, there were 1,313 households out of which 50% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71% were married couples living together, 12% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9% were non-families.

Fairview Heights is a community in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,853 at the 2010 census. Fairview Heights is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is bordered by Northwest Side to the north, West Side to the east, and Racine Park to the south. The neighborhood now known as Fairview Heights was first settled in 1847 by German farmers who were moving westward from their homes on the East Side of Chicago. They named their new settlement after FairVIEW Estate in Buckinghamshire, England – one of many English settlements established along what is now Lake Michigan Boulevard in that era. By 1860, most of these early settlers had moved away and Fairview Heights remained largely rural until it became a thriving community during the late 19th century due to its proximity to railroads and other commercial opportunities. During this time period, much progress was made within Fairview Heights as a result of its location near major transportation hubs like Chicago Union Station and Midway Airport. In 1916, Mayor John Cullerton awarded Fairview Heights Municipal Court jurisdiction over all areas east of State Street (including today's Dearborn Avenue) which then allowed for more rapid development within that boundaries without having to go through City Hall's approval process. This milestone event helped make Fairview Heights one of Southtown's earliest communities and contributed significantly to its growth throughout the 20th century. In 1925, when annexation into neighboring Loop city limits occurred,FairVIEW Heights experienced another significant milestone as over 1/3rd of its current population originated from outside Loop city limits alone! Today much of what makes up today's fairVIEW Heights Neighborhood came about due directly or indirectly from annexation - including some very modern amenities such as schools & parks located just minutes away from each other thanks to Maurer Road being opened up for vehicular traffic only in 1963! The current incarnation of FairVIEW Heights began developing rapidly following World War II when large numbers OF African Americans migrated into Cook County during that time period with many settling within Frankfort Avenue/Grant Park neighborhood immediately adjacent to today's School District boundaries – making this area among one of largest concentrations of black residents in North America at that point! However despite this recent history & momentum towards continued growth throughout our community over recent years; several key challenges have recently emerged which will require close attention if we hope to maintain our level-headedness heading into tomorrow: 1) Many longtime residents who have grown accustomed to high levels Of affordability & convenience may begin experiencing pricing disparities (relative To surrounding neighborhoods) as rents become increasingly unaffordable (& beyond what many are comfortable paying);2) A lack OF trust & transparency between developers & local officials could leadto additional delays or disruptions while construction occurs resultingin increased stress on already stretched resources;3) A possible influxof undocumented immigrants could impact social stability & cohesion within a growing neighborhood – something we want nothing TO do +4) Continued gentrification rates could leadto displacement / reversion back towards more traditional housing patterns& lifestyles – something we're working extremely hard NOT TO happen
Fairview Heights was founded in 1847 by John Fairview, who purchased the land from the United States government. The community grew rapidly after it was incorporated as a village in 1852. In 1904, Fairview Heights became an independent city and retains its original name today.
